precious moments

my hell is to write somber songs fitting for an elevator, dr's office our seedy lounge. tried to write something like in the still of the night, used doo-wop and female vocals as the prompt, but suno, said, nope, and played something that sounded like slow jazz. So, I modified the prompt. I got the slow jazz , but the saxophone part became a piano, and I guess sultry female vocal sounds like Michael Buble to them :)

So, picture yourself in a smokey seedy club on the wrong side of town. A waitress long past her prime in too much makeup, gravelling voice calling everybody hun, One the stage is a 3-piece band in worn clothes, looking tired :)

After a few more attempts finally got the female, sax and slow jazz, but the male sounds better

[Verse 1]

Beneath the bright stars at night

Next to the glowing fire's light

The softly blowing ocean breeze

With you by side, I feel at ease

[Chorus]

Precious moments, time we shared

Precious moments, under the stars

Precious moments, united as one

Precious moments, for eternity

[Verse 2]

The warm sand beneath our feet

Holding hands, I feel complete

My love for you, ever so strong

In harmony, doves sing our song

[Chorus]

Precious moments, time we shared

Precious moments, under the stars

Precious moments, united as one

Precious moments, for eternity

[Verse 3]

As the midnight blues turn yellow

The sound of sea is soft and mellow

Forever together in time are we

Timeless as the currents of the sea

[Chorus]

Precious moments, time we shared

Precious moments, under the stars

Precious moments, united as one

Precious moments, for eternity

[Outro]

Memories melt into the hands of time

On eternal stairs of clouds, we climb

In the stars, our souls take flight

All starting from that summers' night

I really enjoyed the Buble sound-alike. The song actually lifts you up and transports you bang into the middle of that seedy club. Good one, enjoyed it.

If you're interested Bill, here's a link to the simple online app I use to trim and fade the songs off Suno.

    https://mp3cut.net/

If it asks to put a shortcut to it's range of apps on your toolbar, just click no.

  • @sidshovel - pleasant surprise.. I actually buble, he has a great voice. is the end of the song off? I'll check it out, regardless.

Dang, Bill. You are such a great poet. Stunning lyric. Now, for a listen.. I'm beginning to wonder what some of my lyrics would sound like on SUNO...but NOT going there, anyway, just beautiful, Bill. So pretty and relaxing. I could be wined and dined to this lovely tune. I can tell you this. My dog, Lucy LOVES it. She kept coming into my writing room, jumping up and hugging me; must be that lovely sax!

  • @HummerWisdom - Thanks Renee, and that's funny. seems like lucy has an ear for music :) .. you don't need Suno as you can sing and play.. I need to change the title as I keep getting the song precious and few stuck in my head :)

  • You cover some territory in terms of style!

You might try converting v3 into a bridge and go for some variation in the melody there.

    Holds together well.

  • @RainyDayMan - That's a good idea Owen.. thanks.. I'll give that a shot...

I've been tinkering and learning how to use Suno myself. Still don't have a real sense of what I'm doing. I learn by doing, so I'm using up a lot of old lyrics. I figured out how to 'follow' you, and presumably can be notified when you have a new song. I gave you a 'like' on this song and several others. I've shared your frustrations at the software not following instructions, but I've also been pleasantly surprised when it turns out better because it ignored me. Bit of a crapshoot. Loved your lyric and the music DID improve it's meaning. Anyway, fwiw. . . I'm "Bluesy meditation 7806" on Suno. I have no idea how I was assigned that moniker, and I did NOT pick it. But, it really doesn't much matter. BTW. . . if it helps, Suno has a way to remove the vocals so that you can just re-sing them yourself. I also have a software I have found on-line that will remove the vocals. Anyway. Good song.

  • @Hardtwistmusic - Thanks for the likes and comments.. you have some catchy songs.. this gives some prompts you can use - Style & Genre List – Suno.wiki

    that might help a bit..

I know you can split them out, but not much of a singer, so I'll have to stick with Suno for now :)

There's Youtube vids on prompts and learning for Suno

Sounds good man , I spend my nights singing in seedy bars lol

  • @ElvisNash . thanks for the comment. I think that you have play dives. I think it's a rite of passage.. yes, I have all the prompts and all that, but it's still a crap shoot.. you can say no male vocals, and it will still give male vocals, they are still fine tuning the models.
