[verse 1]
You're my Mary Magdalene, always by my side.
my faith in you never wanders, you're just there.
With me in the good times, never far in the bad.
everything I could wish for, best friend I ever had.
[verse 2]
You could have left when you had the chance.
a career in economics, world was at your feet.
You saw something in me, that I'd never seen.
Gave me credit for things, I couldn't have been.
[chorus]
Mary Magdalene, so many were jealous of you.
slandered and degraded, you stood tall and true.
Questioned your virtue, crimes done in your name.
I wouldn't be here today, if not for Magdalene.
[verse 3]
You got me to where, you knew I needed to be.
Change our lives for good, so everyone can see.
Lead us out of the darkness, into a bright new age.
Leave hopelessness behind us, turn over a new page.
[chorus]
Mary Magdalene, so many were jealous of you.
slandered and degraded, you stood tall and true.
Questioned your virtue, crimes done in your name.
I wouldn't be here today, if not for Magdalene.
[bridge]
You never wanted power, or titles to your name.
Principles, weren't for sale, never played their game.
Tomorrow will be the day, I form a government.
History and the people, will honour you all the same.
[chorus]
Mary Magdalene, so many were jealous of you.
slandered and degraded, you stood tall and true.
Questioned your virtue, crimes done in your name.
I wouldn't be here today, if not for Magdalene.
[outro]

I don't understand this one, and someone who does might respond differently, so a large grain of salt for what follows.
Your chorus ends "if not for Magdalene", and I thought you would go for "if not for my Mary Magdalene". Not sure if you were trying to make a combined reference to the historical Mary Magdalene as well as someone personal by creating that slight distance and using the less personal version. If not, I would include the "my".
The song overall seems to blur between those two versions, and for me at least it wasn't always clear which was being referenced, and whether or not that was deliberate. It feels like Mary Magdalene is not just metaphorical here but is being specifically referenced in the song.
"a career in economics" felt a little clunky. Perhaps this is an important clue to the person's identity. If not, a more generic "young and bold" type phrase might fit?
The chorus maps easily to the historical Mary Magdalene. It probably maps clearly to the personal one as well, once the identity is understood.
Similarly the references to politics. The whole song feels like a riddle to be solved. And it may unfold like a flower when solved and be very satisfying.

At first, I thought it was about a close personal friend, but V3 and the bridge made it seem like it’s referencing a historical figure. Maybe it’s both, somehow? Or maybe neither haha. The lyrics themselves do sound very nice. And the melody is really soothing. Overall, I enjoyed it, Sid, thanks for sharing!0

Thank you for taking the time to work through it.
The story is basically about a highly intelligent young woman who foregoes her career to guide and support a man in his fledgling political career. Through all the trials and tribulations, (think West Wing), she sticks with him to the ultimate pinnacle of success. A success he acknowledges would not have been achieved without her. The reference to the historical Mary Magdelene, is an attempt to convey a complicated character by referencing a relatively familiar one. The successful politician and acolyte metaphor is self evident.
7/10 for deductive reasoning Holmes, admirable my dear chap.
P.S. The key to their relationship is in the progressive change in the salutation, becoming more distant as he rises in power and her influence wanes. (nearly got it RDM)!
