lyrics SS music/vocals Ai

[verse 1]

I was a good girl, when I lived at home,

right after leavin', I was sharin' my bed

You moved in, all my sense's they'd gone,

head over heels, in more ways than one.

[verse 2]

It feels like lovin' you's, a one-way street,

but it's a road I chose to travel.

Every fibre in my body, -- cries I don't belong,

lust calls the shots, yeah, -- I know it's wrong.

[chorus]

I know that you're playin' around

you don't care that much at all,

You figure that I'll just take it,

till I know, how far I've left to fall.

[verse 3]

I need to find a way out, the mess that I am in,

Put my head together, throw him out the door.

Lost my self-respect, now I want to get it back,

Train come off the rails, now it's back on track.

[chorus]

I know that you're playin' around

you don't care that much at all,

You figure that I'll just take it,

till I know, how far I've left to fall.

[bridge]

Left to fall, left to fall.

How did it come to this.

Do with me as he pleases,

after only just one kiss.

[chorus]

I know that you're playin' around

you don't care that much at all,

You figure that I'll just take it,

till I know, how far I've left to fall.

[outro]

Doing with me as he pleases,

after only just one kiss.

Left to fall, left to fall.

how did it come to this.

  • @sidshovel - great melody and excellent lyrics. that actually sounds like my sister and one of her boyfriends. I asked he why she put up with him, she replied - can't get anybody else :{

  • "How far i've left to fall" is a cool phrase. I feel like it's used here to mean "how far I've already fallen" rather than what is ahead, but I don't think that matters much. Like I said it's a cool phrase.

The morality involved feels a little old-fashioned. Being a "good girl" by not having sex for example. I don't know how that will play out with a modern audience, particularly a younger one. Depends on who you are writing it for.

The problem here seems to be his behaviour rather than hers. Cheating in the relationship. Her vice seems to be an unwillingness to end the relationship, and consequently a drop in self respect. People do twist things in their head and I can imagine someone finding it easier to blame themselves rather than confront the other person. I find myself unsympathetic to either of them, and that may be unhelpful in a song. But maybe that's just me!

Interesting rhyme scheme in your verses, Sid. Don't often see ABCC and I love the sax! Also, like how you stole from the Bridge for an Outro; pretty cool! And again, you've written from the opposite sex as you've done before. I do that occasionally, tho' I do find it a tad difficult having never worn a man's shoes. I think the music fits the lyric very well. Unfortunately, in today's world a woman is not supposed to look the fool nor weak thus the charts are filled with 'strong' woman songs which I find irritating.

    Nice song, Sid!

    Thanks guys, appreciate your comments.

All relationships are complicated, not every observation needs to contrive a white hat, a lot of the time, there are simply no winners.
