Twelve chimes of the clock as smoke fills the air

Pondering of forgotten lore, while resting in my chair

As I nodded, a glass of bourbon falls to the floor

Suddenly there is a gentle rapping at my chamber door

[Verse 2]

Thoughts of Lenore, as I stumble to the door,

Looking down, I see a calling card on my floor

Black with two words written in white bold,

Quoth The Raven - Nevermore, leaves me cold

[Chorus]

Known only as the Raven, a figure in black

Sharp as a blade and quick to attack

A calling card left at your door, beware

Your best friend or worst nightmare

[Verse 3]

Back into the chamber, I spin, my soul burning

To the window I race, my mind churning

A figure in black into the alley fades

As I peer hidden behind my window shades

[Verse 4]

Grabbing onto the silken purple curtains

Trembling with fear, my fate now certain

Wasn't a typical visit at my chamber door, 

'Twas from the raven, quoth - Nevermore

Lenore and I was partner till she met the boss

His name is Tony, one you don't want to cross

They met at the nightclub, she works the floor,

Again, I hear a rapping at my chamber door

From my desk, I quickly pull my revolver, 

Cocked and ready to fire, until I heard her,

It was Lenore, gently rapping at my chamber door

Please let me in, in desperation she implores

As I stand there, shaking, my fate I'm facing

My palms become sweaty, my mind racing

Quickly, I fling open my chamber door

A single shot rings out, I fall to the floor

Lenore smiles wickedly, Tony sends his love

Around her neck, my gift, a golden dove

And as I lay lifeless on the floor,

Quoth the Raven, - Nevermore, Nevermore
