Christmas Time 2024

This song more than likely will not be well-received by the masses in the way Christmas songs generally are. But I didn't write it for them. Any feedback you might have is welcome.

CHRISTMAS TIME 2024
[Verse 1]
Two weeks till Christmas 2024
Syria fell last weekend
Don’t know what to make of the news
But it’s Biblical, my friend, and
[Chorus]
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
Too much sorrow in the air
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
No time to borrow, smiles to share
[Verse 2]
Stop off at the coffee house
Order a peppermint mocha
And it’s quiet as a tomb in here
If I’ve told you twice, I’ve toldja
[Chorus]
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
Too much sorrow in the air
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
No time to borrow, hellos to share
[Instrumental]
[Verse 3]
Now, there’s a gal on the corner
Dressed in a Santa Claus suit
She’s dancing and singing merrily
For a little bowl of soup
[Chorus/Tag]
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
Too much sorrow in the air
It don’t seem much like Christmas time
No time to borrow, money to spare.
[Verse 4]
It’s not a holiday, I celebrate
Though I did for many years
But the truth is, Christmas ain’t Biblical
And it’s the Father I most fear.

It may not resonate with all, but t may for some.. I like the lyrics, again you write from the heart.. in the end, staying true to yourself is all that matters

@bhengen from a lonesome heart, I write. I'm blessed to have lots of time to myself as I work AND live alone. With my hound dog, Lucy, of course!
Thank you for staying tuned,

Reality never reachs the masses until it's too late.

interesting visual.. I picture an autumn day, leaves falling, you are sitting on your porch swing, fresh brewed coffee next to you, strumming away, while lucy lays at your feet.

Christmas can be an odd time of year. We choose to celebrate now (those who do!) and that can can be at odds with what is happening in the world, as you rightly point out here.
Musically, I think it might benefit from a little more variation between the verses and the chorus. But the overall mood seems right.

@bhengen Thank you and you’re very close. I wrote most if this while walking, Lucy. 🐶 and then we did stop off to the coffee house for a peppermint mocha and Lucy and I sat at a table outside where I wrote more.0

That was nice. Kind of sad. It sort of reminds me of Willie Nelson.0
