Life Of A Dog

Back at cha Hummer:
Walked into a Texas roadhouse bar
me and my dog Woody
He’s my best thick and thin friend
Bartender says what you drinking
I said someday he’s gona break my heart
Let’s make him happy while he’s living
Let’s have a bowl of beer before we move along
And live the life of a dog
Break Tag—
Walked into a Georgia country bar
Me and my new dog Ben
Found him sittin by the roadside waiting
Bartender says what you having
I said my friend and I are awful dry
And beer ain’t gonna cut it
We’ll have bowl of wine before we move along
And live the life of a dog
And all the boys around the bar
help me sing this song
Bout bowls of whiskey wine and beer
And living the life of a dog
Break-- C Am F C x 2
Now I’m sitting outside of a Boston bar
With my new best friend Buddy
Bartender says we don’t serve dogs
So he put us out back in the alley
I said it sure has been a mighty long ride
Need something to wash off the road
Let’s have a bowl of whiskey before we move along
And live the life of a dog
And all the boys back in the alley
helped me sing this song
Bout bowls of whiskey wine and beer
And living the life of a dog
And here’s to Woody Buddy and Ben
may they rest in piece one and all
And here’s to bar room friends and roaming free
And living the life of a dog

Ooh it's on! Battle of the bards!
Well this is strong too, but very different feel.
I like how the beer, whiskey and wine give structure to the song.
And a nice play on a "dog's life".
Good stuff!

Well, I have a soft spot for bar room songs. I'm not sure what that tells you (!) but I really enjoyed this caper. Indeed, here's to Woody, Buddy and Ben!!😀
