Find A Road

Gregg Allman passed back in 2017. Bout a year later I bought a book written by his cousin full of pics and stories of him and his brother Dwane called Growing Up Allman. One night he came to me in a dream. It seemed so clear and natural to sit down with him and have a conversation. And he said to me….
There’s barely nuff time to roll
Barely nuff time to roll
Not enough time to sit there crying
Cause it’s always time to go
Get up and find your road
Now when I think on what he told me
And how our stories unfold
And everyone in every chapter
Has words to write I know
I try to stay within the lines
Of your poetry as I go
Makes sense to just keep moving
Past the things you can’t control
You told me there’s barely nuff time to roll...well
Barely nuff time to roll...yeah
Not enough time to sit there crying
Cause it’s always time to go
Get up and find your road
Had a dream the other night
All my roads would be found
Heard you singing in that dream
Now I’m thinking bout your sound
A cold winter waiting
got me hungry to be gone
Your words keep making sense
So I’m here to sing along
Break—
You told me barely nuff time to roll...well
Barely nuff time to roll...yeah
Not enough time to sit there crying
Cause it’s always time to go
Get up and find your road
You were a south bound midnight rider
With the keys to the highway
Your road goes on forever
Now you got wings to fly away
What’s gone is gone
What’s lost to chance
Only the tomorrow waits
No use talking about the past
Sing only
Man you….Barely had time to roll...well
Barely had time to roll...yeah
Never had time to sit there crying
it’s was always time to go
get up and find a road
Yeah let’s find a road
There’s not enough time to sit there crying
Cuz it’s always time .....

Nice message! Chorus has that sing a long factor to it which is great.
When you get to "So I’m here to sing along" it feels like that would be a good lead back into the chorus. Maybe put the break in after that?
Good song.

Nice! Love the chorus - bit of an earworm you’ve got there, and that’s a good thing. Well-played and great vocals. (Again, I might add.)0

Great story, first of all. When an Allman comes to you in a dream, you listen!
The melody throughout the whole song takes unexpected twists and turns. Very inventive. I envy the unpredictability of it.

As Matt says: 'When an Allman comes to you in a dream, you listen!' Indeed you do!! I think many of us have dreams and thoughts about our departed musical heroes and there's nothing wrong with that. Even better if it inspires us to write a good song. It's surely what they would have us do.
Great lyrics and vocals once again. Your guitar playing really stands out too.
A great track😀

Matt got it in one, the chops and changes throughout just kept you hooked to every line and riff.
A real stimulating and interesting journey, sights round every bend.
As ever, great guitar and vocals, loved it.
