By The Time I Finish This Song

I was doing a solo act in a bar one night...

Bar tender’s looking over

It’s a quiet night

He’s got his ears on me

Lost in this melody

As I sing the story

Couple in the corner

On a  first date

It looks like  chemistry

They talk a lot and stare deep

Listening to  my melody

Whoa a woh oo ooo oo oo

By the time my words are sung

He’ll be remembering what went wrong

And they’ll be dreaming on a tune

To see their new love through

Old love gone new love strong

By the time I finish this song

By the time I finish singing this song

Another time another past

Another chance to make it last

I’m singing in a memory

We sat there for the first time

And felt the chemistry

We both dreamed of new love

By the time the guitar player was done

Whoa a woh oo ooo oo oo

By the time his words were sung

I can’t remember what went wrong

While we went dreaming on a tune

To see our new love through

Old love gone new love strong

By the time he finished that song

By the time he finished singing that song

Another time another past

Another chance to make it last

Break

Take my hand forget the past

Take a chance and make love last

By the time I finish singing this song

Excellent, well constructed piece with a great story and message.

Usual high standard of music and vocals.

    Very enjoyable.

Wonderful song, nice story, poetic between sun and shadows. @StoneFlowers

  • "By the time I finish singing this song" is a great title and hook, and it makes for a good story too.

I really like the chorus, but the melody in the verse feels a bit indistinct and doesn't stick in my mind afterwards.

    Good strong ending.

    Good track overall.

  • Hey thanks for your input all

  • I like the arrangement here - great guitar sound and great vocal mix. The chorus is the stand-out melodywise, while the verses hold their weight telling the story. Will be digging into your other posts as well!
