Tale Of A Fisherman’s Dream

Wrote this for a ski buddy friend of mine. He spent most of his life as a commercial fisherman. But catch quota regulations were passed that made it difficult to make his business worthwhile. So he sold his boat and now...he'd rather be skiing.

Intro-- Hey Capt mountains and the sea

Not too many places left to be freeeeee

Born on the edge of a storm

A head for the risk and a nose for the fish

Man with a rod blue fin on a line

Running the coast up from Block Island

Makes his living on a boat he calls Harmony

Let me sing you the tale of a fisherman’s dreeeeeam

Red sky at night like a sweet summer song

A catch in the hold and it’s time to move on

Wind in his face tossing on the deep

Burn in the sun if you don’t freeze

Late at night there’s a fog in his sleep

Let me sing you the tale of a fisherman’s dreeeeeam

Break

Now powers that be got infested like rats

Put a stranglehold on a fisherman’s catch

There’s troubling waters and roiling seas

Government powers won’t let you be

And late at night there’s rage in his sleep

I’ll sing you the tale of a fisherman’s dream

Hey Capt the mountains or the sea

Not too many places left to be freeeee

Now the fisherman’s dream is a mountainous scene

He can still smell the ocean it’s in the distance unseen

He can still rock the boat but he’d rather be skiing

There’s wind in his face as he flies through the trees

And late at night there’s new snow in his sleep

Let me sing you the tale of a fisherman’s dreeeam

Now when the powers that be want to limit your sight

Tell you what to believe and run your life

And good times are gone from regulation

It’s time to move on change the situation

Hey Capt the mountains from the sea

There’s still a place left where you can be freeee
