Bit of a change of pace

[intro]

[verse 1]

I'm in a bar, thinkin' on, ways to blame my wife,

adultery by her, would stop the court twistin' the knife.

A stunner sat down beside me, ordered a whiskey high,

reminded me of Betty Davis, those wide allurin' eyes.

[verse 2]

Later, we went back to my room, stayin' at the Hilton,

Shared pleasures of our bodies, you left the light on.

Heard a camera shutter, a shrill laugh and the words "tut, tut,"

got out of bed in time, to see the room door shut.

[chorus]

Somethin' about her eyes, showed no fear at all,

voice was calm, too calm, as if she was playin' a part.

Her touch was cold, I waited for the other shoe to fall,

the smile, a sneer, warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

[verse 3]

Weeks passed slowly, Bette Davis fell off the radar.

Little did I know, she hadn't gone that far.

Got an envelope in the mail, from some lawyer,

divorce papers, and pictures of me and her.

[chorus]

Somethin' about her eyes, showed no fear at all,

voice was calm, too calm, as if she was playin' a part.

Her touch was cold, I waited for the other shoe to fall,

the smile, a sneer, warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

[verse 4]

The judge looked me up and down in disgust,

pictures in her hand, proof of infidelity and lust.

At the back of the court, my wife was kissed,

by a lady I knew well, the elusive Miss Davis.

[chorus]

Somethin' about her eyes, showed no fear at all,

voice was calm, too calm, as if she was playin' a part.

Her touch was cold, I waited for the other shoe to fall,

the smile, a sneer, warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

[bridge]

Don't ever think you really know someone,

what they think and what they'll do.

As you make your plans to bring 'em down,

they will have done the same to you.

[chorus]

Somethin' about her eyes, showed no fear at all,

voice was calm, too calm, as if she was playin' a part.

Her touch was cold, I waited for the other shoe to fall,

the smile, a sneer, warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

[outro]

warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

warm eyes that hid a cold heart.

  • Oh. I thought it was your own original music at first, I was like Wow! Sounds like Rod Stewart. Now I say "Why do that? I think you're why better off creating and recording your own stuff.".

Thank you Rob, I like to hear my lyrics set to music/vocals to appreciate if the lyrics work. It helps improve my lyric writing. I use Ai since I don't play musical instruments or have a voice remotely melodic.

Quite a few people mentioned that they can only judge lyrics if set to music, so I provide the option should they wish to use it.

I have never, or ever, wish to claim any credit for the Ai accompaniment, it is provided for others purely as a voluntary option only.

    Thank you for your feedback

  • That makes sense. I'm not so much lyrically inclined but I think through this forum I am becoming more so and can the results.

  • That Bitch! As you make your plans to bring 'em down, they will have done the same to you...Great story Sid

    You're welcome SF.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

I have a CW showcase planned for next week. If you liked this one you're gonna love

"Au Revoir to Adios" next Wednesday.

    Stay tuned

  • That's some storyline! And a lesson for us all. I'm not sure there's anyone there to like though!

"warm eyes that hid a cold heart" is a great hook and title.

    Thank you,

I like to anchor my stories in reality, very few divorces have likeable characters in the end!

  • In the spirit of RDM's thread in discussions, and my follow up to it, here's my take on this one. Divorce? I somehow managed to avoid that one though the poor woman deserves a medal! The title to this one does it for me. It says it all.

You have a way with words that I can't match Sid. I've told stories about heartbreak and the evil ways of certain ladies. You tell it like it's serious. I can't do that. A great lyric.
