Original song - Wasted My Life

This song, the guitar part, kind of floated right through me after not playing guitar for a while. I think you night like it. Some people might say the vocals are terrible, I would mostly agree, but others might find them weird, in a good way. What do you think?

Lyrics:

5 am

And I'm tossin' in my sleep

I ain't missin' you

Wasted my life

On you

And I can't wait another day

Wasted my life

On you

Wasted my life

Yea

Wasted my life

Yea

I think the voice needs more clarity or more volume, sometimes it's hard to understand the words... or it's my headphones

  • I don't have a problem with your voice, but I do like a vocal track to be clear and prominent, and this one is a bit muddy and back in the mix. The guitar work is strong as usual!

  • I enjoy the theme of the lyrics and how it relates to thoughts of a person in the past and the choice and decisions made internally but believe you have so much room for expansion in them. But I am a writer not a musician and see potential in most of the words I read everywhere.

Can't comment in depth on the music but it does fit the style of lyrics and seemed well done.

Ditto to the vocals feeling muddy. They need a more prominent role in the song itself. Overall I say this is good and needs to be polished a little.

Hope you will provide a revision soon

  • Well, I've heard your music before. Same problem as before too. You have some good ideas, but the recordings just don't work for me. I don't know how you go about creating your music but it has to be clear enough if you want any meaningful critique. Don't let me put you off, do keep going, but you will likely get some negative reviews unless you can improve the quality of your recordings.

  • Thanks. I am using a cheap computer microphone going into a desktop computer and Audacity as a multitrack recorder. I have been given some good information on this and other forums on ways to record but it seems likes there quite a bit of learning involved and/or physical things I need to buy to get a decent quality sound. Right now I need something simple as I don't have a lot of time.

  • Your 'cheap computer microphone' may well be the problem here. A usb microphone could be all you need to create a reasonable recording using Audacity. I have a Samson GoMic connected to my pc in the kitchen. I don't use it to make music, but I could make a listenable demo with it using Audacity if I wanted to. These mics are inexpensive and very simple to set up and use.

    Just a thought.

  • I think you may be right. I can give the Samson GoMic I try. Thanks again!

  • II did some research into the GoMic microphone you recommended. Looks like a winner and great value. Thanks again.

  • You are welcome my friend. Lets hope it does the trick for you.
