London has cowboys
I’ve never worn a Stetson,
I ain’t got no plaid shirt.
I’ve never been to Nashville,
Wasn’t raised on Texas dirt.
I don’t live on forty acres,
Out there on the plains.
Where I’m from there ain’t no horses,
It’s the monarchs who have reigns.
Our bars don’t serve sarsaparilla,
There’s no sawdust on the ground.
But turns out that there’s still country,
Even in this old grey town.
Yeah, London it has cowboys,
They’re just playing in the rain.
The same whiskey in their glasses,
The same heartache in their veins.
They might dress a little different,
And they might sound a little strange.
But yeah,
London it has cowboys,
All the same.
I might not rope, I don’t ride steer,
Won’t find no rodeo round here.
Don’t wear no boots, but I got the blues,
Just singing truths to city views.
And with Big Ben chiming,
Just like a southern bell,
Turns out even in London,
That there’s still tales to tell.
Yeah, London it has cowboys,
They’re just playing in the rain.
The same whiskey in their glasses,
The same heartache in their veins.
They might dress a little different,
And they might sound a little strange.
But yeah,
London it has cowboys,
All the same.
I might not have a prairie sunrise,
Might not have an open range.
But man i still got stories,
And that’ll never change.
From the palace to the tower,
And everywhere I roam.
Turns out you can still be country,
Even if you call London home.
Yeah, London it has cowboys,
They’re just playing in the rain.
The same whiskey in their glasses,
The same heartache in their veins.
They might dress a little different,
And they might sound a little strange.
But yeah,
London it has cowboys,
All the same.
Yeah, London it has cowboys,
They’re just playing in the rain.
The same whiskey in their glasses,
The same heartache in their veins.
They might dress a little different,
And they might sound a little strange.
But yeah,
London it has cowboys,
All the same.
Yeah they might dress a little different,
And they might sound a little strange.
But, London it has cowboys,
All the same.

I liked this very much. The lines, "The same whiskey in their glasses,
The same heartache in their veins." resonate such truth about humanity being the same wherever we are and are universally understood at an internal level. The song reads smoothly and has depth and a poetic flow throughout. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.

Thank you is much prysmatyk
That was what I was going for that the more people are different the more they are the same.0 -
You drove that nail home with one strike here!

That's a fantastic chorus, and the whole premise is top-notch.
The syllable counts in the verses are a little uneven and you can hear that in the vocal (even allowing for the vagaries of AI). It might flow just a bit smoother if you could resolve those.
This one feels close to commercial quality to me.

Interesting song, and I like it better than I thought I would as a USA Southern Country fan. You really hit some good thoughts here comparing the two, and that "monarchs have reigns" part hits ya right in the face like honest country does.
A few notes if you wanted feedback:
- Southern Belles are a protected species, so that part may be a little touchy to broader country fans, especially southern usa country fans. Consider tweaking it to "charming" instead of "chiming" to keep us from fighting you. Be extra careful talkin bout our womens.
- Country like this often sounds better without proper grammar. "Yeah, London, it has cowboys" is fancy talk for "Yeah london has 'ol cowboys," or even "has our cowboys" which keeps the same beat but better embraces the spirit. Either way, the "it" is a bit awkward.
Other than that, it's a great reminder you can live in a big city and still have the spirit of the country in ya, and that's great music!

Classic country sound with a lyrical twist. I’ve now listened to sings about a cowboy from Halifax and a cowboy from London, one more and I reckon it’s a trend! :p. Being actually from Texas (albeit, Dallas, not exactly out in the country), I can say that this would fit right in on our country radio stations. I think it’s actually an interesting concept because for so long, country was like “either you’re born here or you just don’t get it.” And over time it’s broadened its appeal to other areas and even other countries.0
Howdy, Stranger!
