Lemon Trees and Memories

Lemon Trees and Memories

Lemon trees and poppy seeds

and ducks all in a row

White picket fences

Rose tinted lenses

Children's names, silly games

Times we'll never know

Tiny handprints

Empty blankets

Though you're not here, our love still grows

In lemon trees and garden rows

Lemon trees and memories and dreams yet to come

It's not gone it's just delayed

We planned our future a bright and bold one

And we'll be together one day

Knew day one you were the one

Watched our lives entwine

Flowers blooming

Shadows looming

Didn't know, how soon you'd go

And I'd be left behind

Sirens wailing

Echoes fading

This house is too big just for one

But I've got no plans for moving on

Lemon trees and memories and dreams yet to come

It's not gone it's just delayed

This place is haunted now, but in a good way

And we'll be together one day

We'll be together one day

  • A smooth and mellow track, Owen. It has your great signature guitar work. I like the somber lyrics of reflection and memories. I enjoyed listening. Nice work!

I've listened to most of your songs on soundcloud and this is definitely one of your best. Great storytelling in the lyrics, loved the way you managed to condense a whole verse into just four words: Sirens wailing/Echoes fading, outstanding!

    Thank you,

    Sid

A beautiful song Owen. Loving your guitar work here. It doesn't always have to be about big production. One guy and a guitar - perfect. Terrific lyrics too. I really like this one.😀

  • Thanks Joseph, Sid, and Chris!

I've tweaked this a little now after some discussions with Sid offline. Just tried to make the chorus a little more melodic, the break a little more defined, and bring the vocals forward in the mix. And added some bass.

  • Excellent upgrade to the track, Owen. The original sounded fine, but the new version is even better. Nice work!

    Cheers,

    Joseph

Well done RDM, the tweak worked well. It takes a big man to listen to a little man who knows nothing about music!

Yes, it's better still with the bass. Am I right saying there's some strings sitting at the back too? I didn't spot them first time around, but that's probably just me!

I don't know exactly what Sid suggested, but it worked!

Again, this is a lovely song. Even better after a couple of listens.

  • Thanks Chris! Yes, synth violas in the back, (and they were there in the first version too).

Aaaw. Such a sweet song! 💖 Waiting to be reunited with a love that got taken too soon. I choked up reading the lyrics and listening. Touching!! Great job! I enjoyed this!

  • Thanks @Plain_Jane! If it gives you feels then I'm happy!

  • Fine poetry Rainy Day! Beautiful and Sad song. I can only imagine it to be a true story. If so, may you and your lost love meet again in Heaven. And I love the dreamy photo you used on SoundCloud.

  • Thanks Renee. Fortunately for me, not a true story!
