lyrics SS music/vocals Ai
[intro]
[verse 1]
When the night
lays its shroud over the day,
and the stars
shine like pinholes in the glaze.
The blackness of the water
goes on forever,
waves gently rock
the boat against its tether.
[verse 2]
A dark silouette
glides across the horizon,
the lone wanderer
defying rhyme or reason.
Challenging the depths
that seek to pull it under,
battling against storms,
the gales and thunder.
[chorus]
Like my boat,
I'm old and weathered now.
Lines that mirror my age,
run from stern to bow.
I reflect upon my life,
as I gaze upon this sight.
Lives and loves I've had,
ships passing in the night
[verse 3]
Shadows in the distance
move slowly past the ship.
Many brief encounters,
when we look back upon our trip.
When I set sail into the wind,
heading for the light,
my memories will float by,
like ships passing in the night.
[chorus]
Like my boat,
I'm old and weathered now.
Lines that mirror my age,
run from stern to bow.
I reflect upon my life,
as I gaze upon this sight.
Lives and loves I've had,
ships passing in the night
[bridge]
The ship is swallowed by the darkness,
carrying its souls east towards the dawn.
The sun will chase our ship westwards,
announcing another new day is born.
[chorus]
Like my boat, I'm old and weathered now
Lines that mirror my age, run from stern to bow
I reflect upon my life, as I gaze upon this sight
Lives and loves I've had, ships passing in the night

Beautiful song start to finish. Great music and lyrics!0

Very good indeed. I particularly like the forever/tether rhyme, and also: Lines that mirror my age, run from stern to bow.
The music came out well too, it's a good match.
Not 100% sure about the bridge. It sounds like that is his death, but having him as the narrator singing the chorus afterwards feels slightly odd - but I may be just overthinking it there!
It's a really nice lyric.

Great lyrics as usual. I too have reservations about the bridge for a different reason. The voice goes too high pitched there to my ears. It doesn't sound natural..but then it isn't! Otherwise the Ai is very good here.
The more I hear the more I could debate the merits (and otherwise) of Ai generated music. But, yes, this is a very good song.😀

Thanks Chris/RDM
Letting the bridge burn for a while, I have a few comments to make re Ai. To date I have set approx 350 lyrics to music/vocals by both Suno and Udio. Doing that, I have picked up a few things that may be of interest to you both.
Ai is nowhere near as good as the plaudits make out. It falls far short of what the tech bro's claim, the number of viewers reading my Ai problems thread is testament to the interest in what's going wrong in Kansas!
Both apps are completely unstable and any reproducible quality output is pure chance. You can equate Ai to those knockoff handbags you can get in S.E.Asia, look o.k. at first glance but fall apart under scrutiny. Ai is exactly like that, in my experience, there are literally dozens of faults in each recording I submit, but I won't get hung up on it.
Ai is only an affordable easel to hang my lyrics, a Google Map for the ears. If you hear faults in Ai, rejoice, cos there's the reason it will never replace real musicians.
