lyrics SS music/vocals Ai

To coincide with the release of my second album, "Sid Happens" on SoundCloud and Audius, here's a track that didn't make the cut, maybe the Xmas album!

[intro]

[verse 1]

Did 3 months of open mic's

and 4 weeks of a 1 hour gig

Hoping some A & R dude

Would notice, and make me big

[chorus]

Catchin' the last train, to Chicago

Some things, just turn out wrong

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

[verse 2]

My roll was comin' down

an' the bills were piling up

I started hidin' from the landlord

Nothin' "runneth" over from my cup

[chorus]

Catchin' the last train, to Chicago

Some things, just turn out wrong

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

[verse 3]

Gave the club manager my notice

The landlord his back rent

Packed my stuff in a battered backpack

Closed the door, and away I went

[chorus]

Catchin' the last train, to Chicago

Some things, just turn out wrong

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

[bridge]

Listened to CW stations riding on the train

The rain battered out a melody, I could hear in my head

probably won't, be back this way again

Maybe when I hit the big time, maybe before I'm dead

[chorus]

Catchin' the last train, to Chicago

Some things, just turn out wrong

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

[outro]

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

I'm leavin' Nashville, to the cowboys

I ain't hangin', 'round too long

  • That's a good one Sid. Like the story, and the chorus is catchy.

    No crits from me.

  • I love this song - very catchy. Great lyrics including some very relatable lines such as 'I started hidin' from the landlord'! Yes, I've been there! The recording and vocals are also excellent - good job!

You have spoken well for all the would be glamorous singer songwriter stars. It's a grueling game with not too many peeks at the light shining through - nicely done.

  • Hows the AI boys ? sounds good man , well written

  • Great lyrics which sum up the game perfectly. It's funny how we all seem to default to American cities - Nashville, Chicago etc. I do it myself sometimes. It wouldn't be the same if we used the likes of Chipping Sodbury, Cleckheaton, Rotherham, Ramsgate, and the likes. Hmm, now there's an idea..😁

By the time I get to Cleckheaton, she'll be eatin'

That Chicken Masala left over from last night.

But she'll just hear that tummy go on rumblin.

Run to the loo for a sh..all we just leave it at that.

  • I love this song - very Townes Van Zandt

On the recording - are you using an auto-tune - if so- would love to know what you are using, we all know I could use it

    Thank you,

I cannot (and never will), claim any credit for the music and vocals, they are Ai generated. I use Ai solely as a tool to carry the lyrics and facilitate the appreciation (or not) of the lyrics. At the top of each lyric sheet you'll find this disclaimer:
