As twisted as you + Music

Music: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14782763
verse
I could tell you my father was abusive.
I could blame the mean kids in school.
but there’s more to my problems than meets the eye.
There’s my relationship with you.
pre chorus
A man of the cloth, a smile of deceit,
You stole my soul from me.
You used me and swore me to secrecy.
chorus
You used my faith to abuse me.
You made me as twisted as you.
You made me as twisted as you.
verse
I could tell you that drugs have destroyed my life.
I could blame it on alcohol.
but the truth is that they are only symptoms.
it’s you at the root of it all.
pre chorus
A man of the cloth, a smile of deceit,
You stole my soul from me.
You used me and swore me to secrecy.
chorus
You used my faith to abuse me.
You made me as twisted as you.
you made me as twisted as you.
bridge
How many kids have you broken?
How many more than me?
Have you been lured into your lair?
made as twisted as me.

Wow, strong stuff Carroll, but kudos for calling it out.
As usual, a very well written piece which captures a bucketful of emotions from the narrator.
Anguish and pain leap off the page.
One of your best here Carroll.
Hope some musician out there takes this on, it's worth it.

Thanks Sid. Not commercial stuff unless it’s rock or alt0

Wow, full on! I think this is excellent. Tough subject, but powerful words.
Bitterness being wrung out of this person.
In the chorus you might drop "You" on the 2nd line making it "Made me as twisted as you", then bring it back for the 3rd line. Just add that tiny variation into it.
In the bridge you might consider "How many more like me?"
Excellent stuff.

This is literally one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever read. Props for even being able to be this vulnerable, and double the props for articulating it this well. Elite stuff.0

Well done guys, that came together beautifully. Loved the sound RDM created for this, don't know what you call it but it worked a treat. Great vocals Chris, almost spat out the vitriol, perfect. Carroll, they did the lyrics justice. Take a bow gentlemen, TSF rules!

Wonderful lyrics from Carroll, and the perfect musical arrangement from RDM. I've never sung words as meaningful as these before and I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it. 😀

You outdid yourself on this one, Chris! Great performance! Carroll's lyrics are definitely the heart of it.
I don't what you call it either, Sid!

Appreciate both you guys for bringing the lyrics to life!1

The guitar is a dark tone, the lyrics tell a very real story . . . Chris did an excellent job on the vocal ! I sincerely hope many people beyond this forum get to hear what this is saying, and appreciate how the lyric was interpreted.
