The thin blue line lyrics

Background to song
The thin blue line
verse 1
The uniform comes with a blind eye
We don't grass on one of our own
See things, deserving of jail time
When it's us, the law's not set in stone
verse 2
We bend the rules for societies rejects
All it takes is a Mason's handshake
Case files can go missing, start with a clean slate
A word in a Minister's ear, that's all that it will take
chorus
There's an unwritten rule in the Met
If you break it, you'll live to regret
You wont get the chance to resign
If you cross the thin blue line
verse3
Inquiries we just ignore, till a government change
Water under the bridge, helps to cover our tracks
If all else fails, and the public demand some justice
Lean on the Home Secretary, she'll have our back.
chorus
There's an unwritten rule in the Met
If you break it, you'll live to regret
You wont get the chance to resign
If you cross the thin blue line
bridge
If the plebs take to the streets, it's us who have the gas
Plant some men to throw the stones, blame it on the few
Our judges will hand out fines, toe the party line
We'll censor all the news, so you'll never know what's true
chorus
There's an unwritten rule in the Met
If you break it, you'll live to regret
You wont get the chance to resign
If you cross the thin blue line

Good on you to say something with this. We just had some child porn stuff blow up here in Detroit recently and it's good to see this speaking out against such darkness. I love the metaphor of the thin blue line.

Yes, I most definitely approve of these words. This is a songwriters forum so I won't say any more, but there's a powerful song to made with your excellent words. I'm just getting started with 'Rock On' 😁, so someone else will have to have a crack at this. I hope they do.
