Unsung Song for Heroes Revised thanks to RDM LYRICS

I watched a drama last night on tv. It was about the reality of dealing with Covid in the ICU and the sacrifices made by both medical staff and the relatives of the victims. Right after I wrote two songs in their honour, this is the first.

Unsung song for heroes

Dedicated to the families of Covid victims who sacrificed their farewells to protect us all.

verse 1

I know it's nearly time, its time I said goodbye

I can feel it everywhere, I can feel it passing by

There isn't any pain, but my heart it aches for you

I must leave you on your own, and there's nothing I can do

chorus

Till we meet again

When we cross the river wide

I'll take your hand in mine

Once more by my side

verse 2

A life we've lived together, never a moment apart

We shared a bed together, we shared each others heart

I'm taking my last journey, this one I'll take alone

Glad your not coming with me, sad I'll leave you on your own

chorus

Till we meet again

When we cross the river wide

I'll take your hand in mine

Once more by my side

verse 3

My breath is leaving my body, so I'll speak within my mind

I love you, how I love you, but I must leave you behind

Thank you for the life, that you chose to spend with me

The joys and the sadness, every moment, I can see

chorus

Till we meet again

When we cross the river wide

I'll take your hand in mine

Once more by my side

  • You've composed a nice set of somber lyrics that honor COVID victims and their families. Well done! It wasn't hard to pick my favorite lines:

A life we've lived together, never a moment apart

We shared a bed together, we shared each others heart

I'm taking my last journey, this one I'll take alone

Glad your not coming with me, sad I'll leave you on your own

    Cheers,

    Joseph

Thank you for those kind words Joseph. A great deal of credit must go to RDM, he provided the polish to a rough diamond.

The amount of guidance and support given unselfishly by the more experienced professionals on this site to those newbies like myself is indeed humbling. It is a priviledge to be in your company.
