Man on the moon

Man on the moon

Verse

There’s a desert in the sea of tranquility.

Where no tears have fallen for years.

The man on the moon has been marooned there alone;

Struggling with his innermost fears.

Pre chorus

Gazing longingly on the planet below.

Wishing he was home;

But knowing full well that his eternity

Will be spent alone.

Chorus

He knows he’s marooned.

He’s the man on the moon.

He’s the man on the moon.

Verse

There’s no escape from the voice of condemnation.

It has no pity for weak men.

It cares not that he longs for the love he has lost.

He’ll be alone until the end.

Pre chorus

Watching intently as a couple kisses.

Dreaming of his girl.

The moonlight walks in the hills of Dakota

In that other world.

Chorus

He knows he’s marooned.

He’s the man on the moon.

He’s the man on the moon.

Bridge

Alone in the hell of solitude.

So far away from home.

Alone in the hell of solitude.

He’s the man on the moon.

Verse

There’s a desert in the sea of tranquility.

Where no tears have fallen for years.

The man on the moon has been marooned there alone;

Struggling with his innermost fears.

Pre chorus

Gazing longingly on the planet below.

Wishing he was home;

But knowing full well that his eternity

Will be spent alone.

Chorus

He knows he’s marooned.

He’s the man on the moon.

He’s the man on the moon.

    Yes, another great lyric, Carrol! I can relate to this as a man. Man on the moon is such a great metaphor.

  • What a wild idea for a song! Love it.

    The chorus is fairly short. I think you could increase that, and maybe shorten the pre-chorus lifting into it. So maybe more like:

    Chorus:

    He’s the man on the moon.

    He knows he’s marooned.

    His eternity will be spent alone.

    He’s the man on the moon.

  • Wow, there's so many great lyrics coming up on the forum just now. I'm working on some music for another contributor just now, but I'm keeping an eye on all this great material.

    Good to see the forum buzzing again after a quiet spell.

  • @carroll . . . "Man on the Moon" is a great song lyric ! . . . and it's great to see you here posting your lyrics. (I believe Carroll was a regular contributor on the previous version of this forum)

    You always write some great "Bridge" lyrics, always liked that part of your style . . . "Alone in the hell of solitude" doesn't mess around with the grey areas, kind of brash, but it could totally work if the music supports that idea.

    I think I agree with Owen's idea about shortening the Pre Chorus a bit, and extending the Chorus.

  • Another cool set of lyrics @carroll . When I first read the title, the REM song sprang to mind. LOL! Seriously, nice work. I liked these four lines the best.

    There’s no escape from the voice of condemnation.

    It has no pity for weak men.

    It cares not that he longs for the love he has lost.

    He’ll be alone until the end.

    Cheers,

    Joseph
