Dark, Beautiful World

Hi! I'm Jordan and I'm a singer/songwriter. I specialize in crossover-friendly Country Pop. My idols are Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, and my favorite producer Dann Huff has produced most of their albums. I also love Dan + Shay (the new Rascal Flatts) as well as Thomas Rhett and Kane Brown, who also are produced by Dann Huff. I'm putting together an album called Dark, Beautiful World. Here's the first song, the title track.

Dark, Beautiful World

Verse 1 (Mid-tempo, ethereal melody lilting piano)

So much darkness in this world we live in
Too much takin, and not enough givin’
Guns and war overseas and in our own backyards
How are we gonna heal our broken hearts?

Chorus: (add Soft Rock guitar and drums)
I know we’re all feelin’ low
And think we’re all alone
We don’t know where our lives are gonna go
Strength is stronger than hurt
Someday we’ll see what it’s worth
Hope is alive, that’s for sure
In this dark, beautiful world
This dark, beautiful world

Verse 2
So much pain is all around us
Tears fall down our faces and we look above
We ask God, “Why does this happen?”
There ain’t no answer, but he still gives us salvation

Chorus:

Verse 3 (add R&B/Soul vocals and Gospel choir)
Evil will not win
The sun will shine again
Love will shine
And hate will burn (x3)

Outro (Mid-tempo, ethereal melody lilting piano, music fading):
In this dark, beautiful world
Oh, this dark, beautiful world,
This dark, beautiful world,beautiful world
Beautiful world, beautiful world
Beautiful world, beautiful world…

  • Hi Jordan. Nice to meet you.

Clearly a song of sadness about the world we live in. I can certainly relate to that. But its also about hope and salvation. Some very nice words here. You have in brackets your ideas for the music. Do you actually have the song recorded or is it work in progress?

  • Yeah! I was wondering if you'd got some music for this too?  As I read through your lyrics I got a "Hozier... esque" type vibe for the verses and something a little more meaty for the chorus and outro.

I imagine Dann Huff would cost you $100,000 to produce a song , if not more

Looks good , Good luck on the demo in Nashville
