See the dude in the cowboy hat belly up at the bar? 

He just lost some pretty little thing who dropped him for a car.

So, there he sits, taking hits, crying in his beer,  

drinking rounds to drown the hounds he cannot bear to hear.   

  That’s how it goes. 

  There’s just no use in crying.  

  You can lay the blame; but, in your heart, you’d know you’re lying.  

  That’s how it goes. 

  You may sink, or you might swim, but if you can’t get wet,    

  best not jump in

Take the old man in the souped-up Vet with that darling by his side,  

You gotta wonder who’s the fool, taking who for a ride.  

These are the days, anyways, sign me up for some 

 pretty words from pretty birds, with lovely silver tongues  

 well….

  You can play the game; but, in your heart, you’d know you’re lying.  

  That’s how it goes. 

  You may sink or you might swim, but if you can't get wet,

  best not jump in

Now, there's a guy who gets it right, you won't see him fall apart.

He’s the kind that will keep his head with matters of the heart. 

He keeps it cool. He’s no fool. He knows, with romance,   

It’s better to love and lose, than to never give love a chance. 

  That’s how it goes.
