at an evening cantina

as I sip from my whiskey glass

The harbor lights

slip over the tides

trying to forget the past

I used to drink wine

and champagne was just fine,

mixed drinks were my friends;

but I ran out of drinks a long time ago,

they remind me of places I've been

So it's the same thing tonight

and if tomorrow's alright,

I'll select another bottle to fall

These heartbreaks from the past

Keep aching through the night

it's straight whiskey or nothing at all...

At Grand Canal I fell for a gal who

mixed sunset martinis with me;

In Key West I met, a charming coquette

drinking mai tais by the sea

Got plenty of sun down in Galveston

Texas tea and southern charms;

Cajun dreams in New Orleans

sloe gin at the Coat of Arms

Those drinks are all taken

from other vacations

when I used them to forget;

Now they make me remember

yesterday's splendor

the pleasures and the regrets

So it's the same drink tonight
