This latest recording is an old song, written in the 90s, but never performed in front of anyone up to now. It languished in my head all this time! Just your usual dirge about domestic violence(!) Came out a bit more upbeat than I'd imagined, and I'm glad of that. I think it helps to get the message over better. Lost the last verse in the edit, and the aim to stay below 4 minutes.

Tough subject to write about! I think you've done well not to minimize it, but without making it too depressing either.
The doubled vocals make things feel a little muddy to me in the recording (not talking about the harmony). It's obviously a technique that's used everywhere to thicken it up, Have you tried it just single tracking it? Always possible it's just my old ears too!!!
Musically, it bounces between two chords a bit. Have you tried including a bridge? A change up might just break that up a bit. You've got an instrumental there which helps, but it's largely mirroring the same pattern.
But it's got style, and kept my attention the whole way through.
