Shadow Chaser

It's been a funny old time this summer. The last 6 months has proved to be difficult within my family circle. Illness has come hard and fast for my wife, mother, father and daughter.
Whenever I mention 'shadows' in my lyrics, I'm talking about illness...those severe cases that we all hate.
Anyway...this tune was written about being unwell and hunting down the culprit...obviously to no avail.
Onward. Let's keep making music...music is life.
Shadow Chaser
Shadow dancer playing your game
Snake skin creeper taking your aim
Sliding through the long grass seeking us all
Devil disciple waiting for night to fall
There's a malady deep in your soul
Are you the Hooded Claw out of control?
Can you feel when you touch?
Do you bleed?
Dance in the darkness to a demon's beat?
Tears bleed red
Shadow Chaser’s in my head
Right through the night and all through the day
Shadow Dancer stop playing your games
Snake-skinned creeper seek your pleasure
Your poison pill won’t last forever
Do you feel when you touch? Do you see?
Shadow dancing ends when dreamers believe
Tears bleed red
Shadow Chaser’s in my head
Right through the night and all through the day
Shadow Dancer stop playing your games

You've put a lot of thought into the arrangement for this. The syncopated rhythm for the verses for example.
And the nice contrast of the chorus. Longer drawn out notes and chords.
"Tears bleed red" is a really evocative line.
Not sure about the fading ending, but the rest feels very strong.

Love the slow groove. Great use of metaphor. Great story line on a no doubt difficult subject for you. Love the tune man...hope things improve.

Outstanding lyric. Real good song. It sounds simple and uncomplicated, but there's a lot going on "between the lines" both musically and lyrically.

To build on what RDM said, I feel like the heavy syncopation really makes you pay attention to each little detail, it keeps ears from getting complacent. It also kind of reflects the chaos and turmoil of getting sick. I enjoyed that a lot, and I hope things are going better for you and your family now0

Liked the lyrics a lot but the music just wasn’t my cup of tea. No knock on the arrangement just me I suppose.0
