Intro: 4 bars (key of D)
If a wee bird wants to fly
All over up in the sky
If a wee bird wants to fly
Give it a push no asking why
When it's the right time to try
When it's the right time to try
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
If a young boy wants to ride
Free by himself on his bike
If a young boy wants to ride
Just let him do it as he likes
When it's the right time to run
When it's the right time to run
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
Interlude: 8 bars
If someone old wants to die
In peace and true dignity
If someone old wants to die
Please, do respect that liberty
When it's the right time to go
When it's the right time to go
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be
You better let it be

Your slow easy style is a good fit to this lyric.
That last verse certainly ups the ante on the weight of the song! Not arguing with the message though.
In v1 "Give it a push no asking why" felt a touch crowded, though not badly. Perhaps "Give it a push don't ask why"?
Nicely done.

I might have said this before on one of your other posts but ...I'd pay to be able to harmonize on one of your songs...

I love how it starts out so cute and sweet, and then that last verse hits, and like RDM said, it fits perfectly with the message. The contrast of those happy chords and such a serious topic makes it land even harder. There’s something about the contrast of childhood innocence with facing the end of your life…this song really makes you think. And it’s also super catchy. Amazing work 🙂1
Howdy, Stranger!
