(Verse 1)

I wake up with the sunrise, but I’m still in the night

'Cause the world out my window never treats me right

 Got a 9 to 5 heartbreak and a rent I can't pay

But in my sleep, I ride horses and just drift away

 (Verse 2)

Out there in the darkness, I got friends I ain't lost

No one’s countin' hours, no one's checkin’ the cost

My old truck still runs, and she’s still by my side

In dreams I got freedom — in life, just a ride

 (Chorus)

 Dreamin’ don’t hurt like this

Ain’t no bills, ain’t no hits

Just me and the stars, and a life I don't miss

I close my eyes, and I find peace

But this world won’t let me be I love dreamin’…

 But I hate reality

(Verse 3)

They say "face the day" like it’s some kinda prize

But the sky looks better with my eyes closed tight

I ain't lazy, just tired of pretendin' it's fine

When the only place I’m livin’ is in my own mind

 (Chorus)

 Dreamin’ don’t hurt like this

Ain’t no bills, ain’t no hits

Just me and the stars, and a life I don't miss

I close my eyes, and I find peace

But this world won’t let me be I love dreamin’…

 But I hate reality

( Solo)

 (Bridge)

If dreamin’s a crime, then lock me away

Give me moonlight and melodies over this day

Let me run where the grass is always tall

Where I’m not afraid to fall…

(Chorus)

'Cause dreamin’ don’t hurt like this No goodbyes,

no what-ifs Just me and my songs,

in a world I still miss I close my eyes, and I find peace

But this world won’t let me be I love dreamin’…

 But I hate reality

(Outro)

So pour one more for the night

And leave the porch light on for me

I’ll be out there somewhere

Where the hurt can't reach

  • If you re-sing this yourself, it will get much better. One thing Suno does not do well is pacing and prosody between the lyric and the instrumental melody. They find "a way" through the song, but often not a really artistic way. Some people consider a song to have poor prosody when the lyrics are not 'conversational' - when Suno sings a vocal melody, they often get so far from conversational that it subliminally offends listeners by being too different from how they are used to hearing it. I'm absolutely certain that you would find a better sounding vocal than this. I'm not saying it's not good. . . just saying you could do a better vocal than they did.

  • I like this and the melody; I’ve listened a few times and don’t hear what Hardtwist hears. That said, he’s not wrong about Suno—it's a constraint-based system built on mathematical models. Humans are naturally better at adjusting phrasing to make unstructured lyrics sound appealing. In any time signature, the algorithm is really working with syllables. If your syllable count doesn’t match the beat, it compensates by slowing or speeding up words to fit the rhythm. Another thing humans can do, that Suno can’t fully replicate, is emote—putting real feeling into the song, which really comes through in the performance.

  • Well its just machines , maybe they're not perfect

  • Perfect is the enemy of the good. Perfection is a fool's goal. No artist, and no machine is perfect. Perhaps, at some point, some machine made by a machine will make a machine that is capable of perfection. I won't hold my breath. Fallible humans will create fallible machines which create fallible outcomes. So far anyway. But the good news is that "good" is still "good." We (fallible humans) wouldn't recognize perfection if we heard it because we are not perfect.

Good one, again!!! I think we're all familiar with depression, an illness with many invisible symptoms that we only notice when it finally explodes! Your song has lines that many of us understand, aside from being brilliant.

Sometimes a word from someone is a key that can open the door that frees us, even partially. But how do we change what's crushing us?

I have my own motto that I have to apply to myself every time I'm about to give up: "Depression is a luxury I can't afford."

Moving away from useless advice because no one is you and your circumstances, I really liked it.

Remember that you are the same person who started it all in your life, the same!!

    Take care chico!!! @ElvisNash

  • This is a good song Elvis. I think you're communicating really effectively what depression is like. I love that opening line:

I wake up with the sunrise, but I’m still in the night

I hope you heal soon. This really does sound like a bitch.
