My Generation Gap

Little tip of the hat to The Who, playing off their title My Generation, and the kids are allright. But otherwise unrelated to their songs.

This is about how there doesn't seem to be any distance between adults and kids today. when I was a kid my parents were so far apart as people than I was, didn't really even view them as people until I got much older, lol

Man about fifty or so
wants to fight
he thinks that he's right
a college kid would lose control
what a sight
on a saturday night

Yeah, it's a girl
that they'd both like to know
maybe she's thirty
but who really knows
[Chorus]
Talkin bout my generation gap
it dont exist
the kids are pissed
Talkin bout my generation gap
it's down to none
there isn't one

Mom and Dad try to pretend
it aint true
but look what they do
nothin beats the good ole days
for a while
kids try not to smile

Dad is engulfed
in his fantasy team
Mom clicks a like
for the days drama queen

Talkin bout my generation gap
it dont exist
the kids are pissed
Talkin bout my generation gap
it's down to none
there isn't one

There's maybe one golden rule
"everybody wants to be cool"
The mindlessness I go through it too
Drivin around on a spoonful of gas
leave it till tommorow
or the day after that

Talkin bout my generation gap
it dont exist
the kids are pissed
Talkin bout my generation gap
it's down to none
there isn't one

The word throwback came to mind. My favorite line is "Driving around on a spoonful of gas". I used to do that when I had a gas vehicle. Great way to put it. I noted that the AI cut at the end of the "everybody wants to be cool" and added a chorus rights after. Did you instruct it to do that?

Energetic song. It reminds me of a lot of music from the 80s. Curious how it can be made to stand out boldly.

    I like the rocker voice.

Hi thanks, unfortunately all Rock music is a throwback, it's simply missing in today's equation . When I redo these myself I hope to sound modern, or at least different.

I think the singer is an ai model of lou Graham from foreignor.

I didn't use the second half of the bridge cause it felt better this way, sometimes you learn about structure using this.

I did instruct it to go right to chorus when I heard how it was handling the four lines.

    Thanks for listening
  • Great chorus! Really strong there, and the whole song works.

Message comes across clearly. Not sure I entirely agree with it, but that's a different thing!

And it doesn't feel at all like The Who (beyond the title), so no dramas there.
