When Blue Turns To Gray

Wouldn't be the first time I did that...lol
My lyrics triggering a soft Ai arrangement. It woud be a album take not the hit...but it's one of my favorite bridges

Purple Balloons hangin on air
styro foam cups and plates on a chair
selfies and smiles tacked to a cube
echoes of laughter the night's interlude
Twas Somebody's birthday
A day shift hooray!
I'm here through midnight
when blue turns to gray
A silk haired latina toes through the aisle
vacuums the crumbs and gives me a smile
empties the bucket then poof she be gone
a row of fluorescent now one's only on
Twas somebody's birthday
now aint that the way
I listen to B. B.
till blue turns to gray
And When night turns to day
it's 4 am
and the deer look for windshield to smash
When night turns to day
radio show talks "anything goes"
the moonlight and stars all collapse
Twas somebody's big day
A day shift Hoorah,
I work through midnight
When blue turns to gray

Pretty song Dom , AI did a good job

Got a slice of life feel to it. The chorus, with "when blue turns to gray", is the integrating element, but I'm not sure it quite comes off, because that is so tangential to the rest of the lyric.
I do agree with you that the Bridge hits the hardest, especially:
and the deer look for windshield to smash
that got my attention!

@ElvisNash , there is no reason to say pointless things..like Ai did a good job..I seen you using the robot comment here too.
Your ai songs are not as good, and anybody can also buy a demo. You said your retired. That nobody wants to hear an old man sing.
Do me a favor if your going to take shots with your ignorant comments Don't comment at all.0 -
Thanks @RainyDayMan
I disagree partially The blue to gray refers to the look of the sky as the night rolls on. So it's pointing to what time it is. It's also a metaphor . Blue as in the blues, turning to Gray which is almost nothing...the way the singer feels working in isolation
Least I hope so...lol
It's definitely not straightforward I can see if it confuses0 -
If you feel it's right, then that's what should be there! Any comment from me is simply: have you thought about... And now you have!

@RainyDayMan I love that this site offers feedback, and we all could use alternative thoughts . I respect how you review the way you do.
Always welcome0 -
@arnabas
Correct. Only it doesn't craft it, it responds to the meaning and vivid ness of the lyric, the structure you give it, and the instructions you give it. It will always sound good no matter what somebody enters, but to make a pretty song, needs more
Ai, is capable of taking say, your guitar and vocal, making a full arrangement out of just your guitar and vocal.
I'm dealing just in the lyric entering side cause that's how it started.
Even Herbie Hancock is advocating artists embrace ai, and he's the greatest piano player on earth.
A good portion of people on this forum are using ai0 -
@Domd - Hmm... interesting, well I won't get into an argument for or against it, to each his own ways and means. But the final output in your case is excellent I have to say. If AI can craft a song of this quality then it better do that, since humans in the garb of musicians are dishing out such trash nowadays anyways and this is multiple times better and more aesthetic.

Yes that's how I see it. Pop radio and I'm sure modern jazz stinks. That's partly what's causing it.
But it is going to be used. Great artists from the Beatles to the who, to Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis have always used tech in their music.
The danger is more shit music gets out into the world than ever before.
This is more a songwriting site, if not ai, everybody is using some form of tech so that they can demo the song.
performance is a totally different thing. One sure way to know if somebody is using ai is of the singer is different every song.
Although I believe there are ways to clone your singer too.
There are definitely concerns and ethical issues, and can be deflating to real musicians.
But I see it as a demo, sketch pad of what I can do when I do my own parts
I sing too and play guitar1 -
@Domd Simply delightful lyric! I especially like the 'deer look for windshield to smash'. And I can relate to getting paid to write a song while at work. Do it all the time; have been for many years as an independent house cleaner. Ah, such freedom! Lol! Now, for a listen: yes, delightful tune through and through. Love the simplicity. A tad-bit Prine? Maybe? 'the moon and the stars all collide'; love the music you did there!
Enjoyed your song very much, New Jersey (I'm originally from Connecticut),
