Nowhere Near Home

Here we are completely alone

we can’t identify the view

only that it’s nowhere near home

Come on dance to these blues

spin out the lives we’ve made together

turn and turn again, you can’t lose

 (chorus)

It’s time

time to step out

into pure light

and slip

slip away

I owe you everything down to the bone

there’s a dark whisper in the corner

looking like it knows its cover is blown

 There’s time before we fade

ride out, let the night swallow

all the problems we made

 (chorus)

We’ll take the only reasonable way

holding each other’s dreams

I’ll catch you if you fall, you’re ok

 You speak of a ghost

lingering around you

turns out he’s our host

 It’s time

time to step out

into pure light

and slip

slip away

 Here we are completely alone

we can’t identify the place

only that it’s nowhere near home

  • I don't know if it's your delivery, but the melody is kind of elusive. I listened a second time and got my mind around it😊. Although some might like a melody they can grasp immediately, it's not a bad thing in my book.

The lyric is also elusive. I'm not sure that I got it exactly, but it interested me as I listened. Good one.

One of the best pieces I have heard in a long time.

    Exceptional song well done, outstanding.

I think the lack of melody may be due to my sing/talk method - thinking of doing another take soon. Thanks

Thanks very much Sid - that means a lot to me.

  • An interesting piece! Let's hope that's the way of it. Doesn't sound too bad a way to go out!

The chorus is the heart of it, as it should be. Ties everything together.

I like the "it’s nowhere near home" line. It avoids having to establish a visual but gives a sense of foreignness and perhaps unease.

there’s a dark whisper in the corner

looking like it knows its cover is blown

    I liked those lines too!

Is the guitar in tune here? Could be just my ears but it sounded a touch flat.

It's a moody, memorable song. And that's a good thing.

Always love your one man staccato like expression and deep lyrical stories. Very unique and interesting listening.
