Every Love Song I Ever Wrote

I've been away for a while, traveling in Europe, catching up with family and friends, some from many years ago. This simple little song was going around in my head, and I decided to have a stab at recording it when I got back.

Listen at my website: Every Love Song I Ever Wrote – Gavin and the Mysterious Beings

You can also listen at SoundCloud, although for some reason it sounds better to me on the website 🤔: https://soundcloud.com/themysteriousbeings/every-love-song-i-ever-wrote/s-WIzabP19ceY?

EVERY LOVE SONG I EVER WROTE

(Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)

How many years since I saw you

You smile as I reach for your hand

I look into your eyes and to my great surprise

In that moment, I understand

That every love song I ever wrote

Every word that my heart sang to every note

What a brilliant disguise, I didn't realize

They were all about you

Two hearts and promises broken

Lives that we let slip away

Words that should have been spoken

Now, all I can think of to say

Is every love song I ever wrote

Every word that my heart sang to every note

What a brilliant disguise, I didn't realize

Of course, they were all about you

(Instrumental break)

Every love song I ever wrote

Every word that my heart sang to every note

What a brilliant disguise, I didn't realize

Of course, they were all about you

  • @OnlyGavin - catchy melody, flows along.. takes me back to the variety shows from the late 60's early 70's :).

Great track Gavin, Love the melody. and the story the lyrics tell!

  • This is a pretty one.

    Some lovely lines there like:

    Two hearts and promises broken

Lives that we let slip away

I hope you won't mind me saying, but this seems such an english love song: restrained, modest, quiet, but still heartfelt. Almost surprised to recognize itself.

    Enjoyed my listen!

  • Nice song Gavin. Very soothing, and a wonderful sentiment!

  • Thanks for listening @bhengen and @Cove .

@RainyDayMan you hit the nail on the head. I sure as heck ain't English (we fought wars about that LOL), but yes, it's a very British song in the way you describe it - we don't like to make a fuss about our emotions - and the lady who inspired it does happen to be English. So, I don't mind you saying that at all 🙂. "Almost surprised to recognize itself" is kind of the essence of the song.

Your website worked very well on my poor internet connection. (SoundCloud is nothing but trouble for me these days). Great back story on the song. Of course I had to listen to Serial Killer as well. You are a genius!

  • Thanks @IronKnee

@DullRoar I believe you are the first to recognize that I'm a genius. Of course, I've known for some time LOL. Glad the website connection worked for you, and yes, I have as much fun with the back stories involving the band members' adventures as I do with the music,

  • Whoa! @OnlyGavin LOVE your lyric, especially 'what a brilliant disguise'...I also, for the first time noticed your full name; Gavin Sinclair; so regal! Now for a listen. Lovely song, Gavin, truly.

  • Thanks @HummerWisdom. Glad that you enjoyed it. I've been called a genius and regal in the space of 24 hours. My head will get so big that my crown won't fit. 😄

  • @OnlyGavin Oh, eat it up because tomorrow they'll be calling you something else..Lol! 🤗

  • An honest love song. Nothing wrong with that for me. Lovely arrangement and a heartfelt vocal. Very memorable too. I've been out of circulation lately as well, so it's nice to return and catch this one. Great stuff.

Lovely all the way through - lyrics, vocal and fine guitar. Especially like the lead-in 1st verse.

  • @ChrisPrice nice to hear from you. I hope you're doing well. Thanks for listening and the kind words.

Great song Gavin, particularly like the anecdote on the website to support the piece.

A pleasant song with a good storyline, exceptional delivery, well positioned pauses work well.

Nice use of in-line rhymes were a standout I like a lot.

Altogether a piece to be proud of.

    Enjoyed it very much.

    Thank you,

    Sid

  • lovely song and simply productions are the best . Your voice comes shining thru

    Great job Gavin

  • @sidshovel Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the song and the back story.

@ElvisNash Thanks. Simple productions are about all I can manage LOL. I suppose it makes a change to all the shiny AI productions.
