Which version - Mirror Behind the Bar

I just finished demoing two versions of an original tune. I can't decide which I like better. I'd love some feedback and opinions! Thanks for taking the time to listen!

Welcome Dave,
Definitely the first is better in my opinion. A tale of two vibes, the first is more gritty and country and goes well with the storyline and setting. The second comes across more folksy and as such doesn't sit as well.
Both good but the first better.
Wait for all the opinions are in before commenting, I may be the only bugger who thinks that way!
Good Luck
Sid
P.S. almost forgot, very good song Dave, especially enjoyed the creative rhymes, excellent story well told.
Deserve a place on any country album.
Tip: post around 7pm your time for quickest feedback

@mandosummers What a cool and unique hook/theme "Mirror Behind The Bar". I don't recall ever hearing it in a song. Dang! I can't decide which I like better; both are great! However, if you're looking to pitch it, version 1 is probably the one to go with as it's more universal country sounding.
Nice to meet you,
Renee

Got to agree with the others. The first version has that classic sad country feel that fits the lyric like a glove. Nothing wrong with the second version, but it lacks the emotional punch of the first.
I speak as an authority on songs featuring a mirror behind the bar, having written one myself LOL.
It's a good song and has the advantage of fitting very closely to the genre.

Thanks for the comments! It looks like the acoustic version is the favorite. It's a lyric driven tune and I guess the simpler melody and accompaniment fits best. Thanks!!

I think the first version has a more commercial feel, but the second is my favorite. I feel a lot more emotion coming thru in that one, and it also has a more unique feel. But if I was pitching trying to make a dollar, I'd go with #1.
And BTW, Welcome to TSF! If you'd like feedback on the lyrics, please post them here as well - but I suspect you're beyond that point in the process!
