It's Us or Them

Thank you @Cove (Toney) for the WONDERFUL backing track to play around with! Had loads of fun with this robot ditty! Any feedback is welcome (let's just not start a war), Lol! 🤣

But the more I hear from whistleblowers (coders and engineers) in the AI arena: WHOA! Is all I can say. We need to get a move on controlling these Super Smart AI's!!!

Very Cool Backing Track provided by Toney Wright

IT’S US OR THEM

V1

No golden rule

Do they play by

The coders are their fools

Super Smart AI

Takin’ over lives

By takin’ over livelihoods

Time is of the essence

For bad or good

CHORUS

It’s us or them

Us or them

Yeah, it’s us or them

Robots or men

Oooooh-oooooh-oooooh

It’s us or them

Us or them

It’s us or them

Us or them

It’s us or them

Us or them

Robots OR Men.

V2

Washington to Beijing

The race has begun

Whoever wins the war

Will be the golden one

Cheaper, better, faster

The name of the game

Should humans survive

This world won’t be the same

CHORUS

It’s us or them

Us or them

I said, it’s us or them

Robots or men

Oooooh-oooooh-oooooh

V3

From the plumber to the lawyer

Most jobs will end, oh and

Universal Basic Income

Will not be your friend, no-no

‘Cuz when it comes from the government

They expect a return

Your beloved flag

They are willing to burn, yeah

TAG

It’s us or them

Us or them

It’s us or them

Us or them

It’s us or them

Us or them

Oh, it’s us or them:

Robots OR Men.

  • hahaha.. where are you getting your information from? just curious. I'm a coder, but not a fool, well maybe a little foolish 😉not so much government, but they are one of the benefactors, Most AIs companies are private or public firms, like OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, etc.. I do see within 5 years fully functioning autonomous droids. I'm not sure in your state, but here in California, some of the burger king and carl's jr's drive through speaker are now AI. one calls itself "Patty" 😂. Can't argue with these lyrics. you're not wrong :)

  • Big changes coming with robots and AI and you're definitely reflecting that here. You're not alone in your fears for humanity. It does feel like playing with fire, creating something so powerful where we can't be sure of the outcome. Even if they don't turn on us, it's unlikely to be good news for everyone in the short term, people losing jobs etc. I think you're capturing that anxiety well in the lyric.

It's a lovely backing track, but I'm wondering if it's a little too chill for this lyric? Reading the words I get a sense of urgency and energy that's different to the music you've come up with - but that's your call, whichever best suits your vision for it.

    Good stuff, Renee!

  • Ai obviously has become more apparent in 2025 and will progress as time moves along , I'm not sure on that ramifications on humans losing their jobs over robots , its already happening in some sectors

    Sounds good Renee

Great lyrics Renee. Kind of reminds me of Zager and Evans "In the Year 2525" only it's happening a lot sooner than they predicted.

Thank you, guys, for your input. And Owen, you could be right in that the track might be too chill for the message. I was just so excited to use such a cool track when Toney sent it to me; looks like I might've jumped the gun! And Toney, yeah, what a cool song "In The Year 2525" truly is! Now, I gotta go to Youtube and listen to it as it's been a while.

  • I don't think the track is too chill for the message. It fits well with the kind of robotic delivery of the lyric. I enjoyed it, despite the depressing nature of the message.

  • @OnlyGavin Thanks so much for your input. Still trying to decide if the track is right. It felt right in the beginning. I'm going to give it a few days or so and listen again, then decide.
