Nightingale

Words by me. music Suno

https://suno.com/s/TJ446pn6AEtmjXLv

a song about sickness, death and grief

[Verse 1]

The nightingale sorrowfully sings

Perched low on the mourning tree

A woman's delicate life suspends

But only in that moment

[Verse 2]

Clinical white walls surround

Many paths now single

The nightingale's song

Fades and she soars away

[Bridge]

The pen is almighty,

Black ink transcends

Balances Life or death

A single mark concludes

[Verse 3]

The nightingale returns

Wishful hope of the mind

Disconnected from reality

Relucted acceptance in truth

I know you said this song is about grief and loss but the guitar solo, wow!

The song makes me sad and relaxed. I closed my eyes to it and went into a daze.

The melody and lyrics are fire!!!

This is really, really good! Wowww! This is a hit!

I can't wait until the next song.

  • @TammyB - thanks. wasn't sure about this one. trying to capture Steve Wilson's vibe. The recent enhancements to suno are amazing. I was able to capture what I wanted in one take.

Yes, this is perfect, and I agree, the upgraded Suno is amazing! I'm about to listen, again :-). It's relaxing.

Absolutely beautiful song Bill, thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I never fully understand all your work, I always enjoy them and get inspired by them. Just finished a song about your work and dedicated to you, I'll post it now, may give you a laugh!

  • @sidshovel - Thanks for the comment. I just realized a correlation of my songs and the new Red Green show ( not sure if you've seen it or heard of it.. funny Canadian show.. google it. really funny). He has a saying - if women don't find you handsome, at least they find you handy.. If you don't understand my lyrics at least you like the music :)

Very true, I must have written a half dozen songs based on lines I've read in your works, your just a font of inspiration!

  • Haunting sound! I like this a lot.

The guitar solo felt a bit long to me. Don't know how much control you have over that.

I liked "Many paths now single". It made me feel that someone's world had narrowed down to just the present moment with no room for contemplation of anything beyond the white walls of their room and surviving the next moment.

I didn't really understand the bridge. The switch to pen and ink lost me there. My guess is something like their life being concluded with the signing of a death certificate.

And the final verse felt like someone remembering the deceased. A fleeting ghostly memory.

    Very nice.

  • @RainyDayMan - thanks for the comment.

I was contemplating leaving the bridge off. it was actually the consent for comfort care. I might leave it off, then see how it sounds. may be unnecessary.

trying to capture a week in as few words and still have it make sense.

I don't have any control over the guitar solo, but if you listen to some porcupine trees, they can be lengthy .

Try [instrumental, Solo, 32 bars], 32 bars variable!

  • It's sad alright. The lyrics are good....Suno is good.

But what else can I say... it's SUNO?

When we write for SUNO, we don't have to write lyrics... we can write poems.... stories.... whatever. The lyric is very poetic, and I have a hard time commenting on poetry... unless it makes common sense.

  • Thanks for the comment. I based this on Drive home by Steve Wilson. I was impressed how he was able to condense thoughts into few words. the more the programmers at Suno clean up the models and have more variation on vocals types, it will be near impossible to determine real from AI.

It is so funny because I loved the guitar solo. I wish some of my songs would produce longer solos. But again, I love a wide range of music. I took a music appreciation class in college and our professor was the hippie type, and she introduced us to classical (Bauch), Bob Marley (Reggae), Kenny G(Jazz), instrumentals. I was already versed in country, R&B, Hip-hop, rock, pop, and soul. Music has always been a huge part of my life.

  • @TammyB - certain styles don't really lend to lengthy guitar solos, since it's more about the overall melody. My life really has been music appreciation. I missed the 60's, but was blessed to grow up in the 70's which saw the birth of a few genres, rap, punk, new wave, funk, EDM. Seems every generation there is something new. Now we are seeing the advent of AI music. Love it, hate it. it's not going anywhere

  • a song about sickness, death and grief. Well I really didn't get that out of it , It's poetry

    Cool song Bill

  • @ElvisNash - thanks for the comment.. what did you get out of it?

  • Just a pretty song of sorrow with the nightingale. Your outro has some hope

  • @ElvisNash - that's good that what you took away from it.. even though I was called a bad writer and a noob on another site for me intentionally not spoon-feeding meanings. I don't think the bridge fits.

  • unless your getting checks in the mail as a pro song writer , Saying your a bad writer is just another guy or girls opinion.

  • @ElvisNash - his claim to fame is he's very big in the general Austin area :).. in your world, songs tell a story with a catchy hook that you can stomp your feet to. In the experimental / prog rock things are different. it's more about evoking a feeling, good or bad. this song is essentially about fitting a worse week imaginable, into as few words, without shoving the message.

  • Country music is only one genre , I think there's hundreds now
