All the Devils Are Here

ARIEL Not a soul
But felt a fever of the mad, and played
Some tricks of desperation. All but mariners
Plunged in the foaming brine and quit the vessel,
Then all afire with me. The King’s son, Ferdinand,
With hair up-staring—then like reeds, not hair—
Was the first man that leaped; cried “Hell is empty,
And all the devils are here.”
-- Shakespeare, "The Tempest"
ALL THE DEVILS ARE HERE
Was it a war child
Was it a losing bet
Was it manufactured crisis
from a half lit cigarette
Was it the last straw
Or just an opening play
Was it a flamethrower in a meadow
Burning hay
Was it a barrel of poison
Shot up to the sky
Was it a the final words
before the angels say goodbye
Was it history littered with all the same mistakes
Was it your last sleepless night because you have to stay awake
What do you say when you hear a mother cry
What if there's no place to go when the bad ones die
Was it a masterstroke where confusion leads to fear
What if hell is empty because all the devils are here
How do we pull the pieces back where they belong
Why is it the weak who are given grace to become strong
So the world turns with no one to defy
There's no place to go for the bad ones when they die
Give up your ghosts and all that you hold dear
Hell is empty and all the devils are here

Very different vibe to other songs of yours I've heard. I like the haunting atmosphere. Musically I think it's strong.
The format seems like a list of all the devils that are here on earth, but I'm not really sure what you're saying about them. Is it a call to arms against them? Or bemoaning fate? I feel like it needs a focus, perhaps a repeating refrain to tie things together.

The beat is fantastic but I'm not sure if I was supposed to be bobbing my heads to song about devils. Forgive me but I was.
Did I miss the chorus? I think I was too busy feeling the beat.
I like it and I agree with the lyrics.

I thought there was a lot to hear in this song that was (if not uniquely different) at least distinguishable from everything else. Originality is rare nowadays, and this was both original AND familiar "feeling." I liked this a lot.

Like RainyDayMan, I didn't really know what it was about. I didn't much care because it was making me FEEL things that I didn't really NEED to understand or figure out. Now, after a lot of listnes, a little of that might wear off a little. . . but my first impression is that it's good like it is without further explanation.
