My GPS Is Set For Heaven
Writers: Fran Williams and Roy Harris

I set my GPS for Heaven
Cause lately I’ve been lost
Been going the wrong direction
Didn’t care about the cost
The road that I’ve been traveling
Has detoured me into sin
My soul is having second thoughts
About the shape it’s in

Chorus
I’m asking you sweet Jesus
For a roadmap to your place
Can’t wait to be in your loving arms
And feel your warm embrace
I don’t like this life I’m living
Cause I know it’s filled with sin
Now my GPS is set for Heaven
And I pray You’ll let me in

I've been living for the moment
Spent my time just running 'round
Thought my cup was running over
Didn't know it was upside down
I never stood for anything
Now I'm down on bended knee
Waiting for your directions
To put my soul at ease.

Bridge
Glory Hallelujah
Now I know I'm Heaven bound
I'm somewhere south of Heaven
Headed for that Holy Ground

I’m asking you sweet Jesus
For a roadmap to your place
Can’t wait to be in your loving arms
And feel your warm embrace
I don’t like this life I’m living
Cause I know it’s filled with sin
Now my GPS is set for Heaven
And I pray You’ll let me in

Nice write Roy, and Fran!  I've made my fair share of wrong turns in this life for sure.  I had something pop into my head while thinking about this... not really a suggestion, but I thought I'd show it to you anyway :)

I looked down at my GPS and this is what it said
Keep your eyes on the Lord my son, Heavens straight ahead

I like that Dennis.  That might be great to add at the end as a Tag or something.  It's something I'll definitely keep on the table.

Oh Roy, this is beautiful. You and Fran did a wonderful job on these lyrics! I see in the bridge Fran finally got to use that great line she came up with back when she was hanging out with us. I always did like that line and I'm really glad to see it finally turn up in a song. But especially pleased to see it turn up in association with a lyric you had a hand in writing. :) Please tell Miss Fran I say hello. I haven't talked to her since Mike's passing. She was having a hard dealing with all of it and eventually just stopped coming in. But please let her know I still think about her from time to time and think the two of you did a beautiful job on this.  :)

Thanks Sara.  Funny you should mention that line because she remembered how you always liked it, so I figured we had to get it in there somehow.  I thought it worked out perfectly for the bridge.  I'll tell her you miss her.

Hey I really love this! :)  Some of the Gathier bunch would probably snatch this up in an Indiana minute! This is one of the best Christian/Gospel songs I've seen in a while!  Very original in approach to Straight and Narrow pathway, put into modern terms. :)  It's fun and upbeat too!  One of my fav parts is:

Thought my cup was running over
Didn't know it was upside down

Super Duper you two! :)

Thanks Rick.   I thought I was taking a break from songwriting for awhile but when Fran posted this hook/idea over on another forum, I loved the idea and the writing part came easy after that.

Awww, did she really? Thank you for working it in after she told you the story. I think it worked out beautifully in the bridge too. This really is a great write Roy, you did a fantastic job on it.  Hope we will be hearing it soon. :)

Been meaning to ask if you happen to know a fella by the name of Rick Leather? I heard him sing a song on EARS radio one night last week and boy can he sing!

Rick Leather is on the Billy Dean Writers Block that me and James belong to.  Yes, I think he is from Canada and James has worked with him some.  He is very talented.  The Gaithrs sound fine to me Rick.  Have you got their phone number? :) We have someone tentatively scheduled to do this, but it may be awhile.

Let me check my speed dial Roy! :)  My wife was in communication with Mark Lowry at one point.  Maybe she can still get in touch with him.  I'll check. :)

I sent off a couple of emails Roy. :) seems like everbody wants to sell me something, Imagine that! :)  I'll keep diggin around.  I think I know a gal who knows a guy, who once met a guy who said he was Gloria's 13th cousin, on her Uncles side.  We ought to make it a priority mission, to find some contact people for some of the Christian music industry. I'll keep looking Roy! :)

Roy here's a link that lists contact info for Gaither Publishing.  There's other publisher contact info listed as well. :) http://mpa.org/directories/music_publishers/show/141

Might also check with Lowell Lundstrum Ministies.  They are a great music making bunch too!  :)  They have a college and every form of ministry you can imagine!  I met Lowell years ago when I was into the music ministry. He came into Vernal, Utah, while me & a couple of singers were rehearsing in our church auditorium, he stopped and listened for a short spell, before his Roadies drove us off the stage. lol :)  Anyways I visited with him and gave him a ride to the motel where he and his Huge convoy of people were to be staying.  They came into town with 2 huge tour busses.  I had just bought some old rattletrap chevy suburban that had a vapor lock problem!  Hee, hee, hee.:D  On the way into town we were talking church business and that old truck started vapor locking.  He'd say something about ministry and that old engine would start surging, he'd stop talkin about church and ask, "Are we gonna make it to the motel in this thing?" :D  It was a fun time and I did get him where he was going.  Great man!  I've used his music over the years from time to tme.  Anyways, enough for memory Ln. :) Here's his ministry link. http://lowelllundstromministries.org/

I think you will find  your chances of getting your your foot in the door of the Christian Music Market is just about the same as the Country market.  Slim to none.
