She's a complicated woman
Many moods at the same time
Laughter tinged with ancient sorrow
Brooding on tomorrows yet to come

It's a complicated romance
As we unwrap each other's lives
Cautiously revealing all the truths
We've been concealing in in our lies

And if it takes a lifetime
To understand her ways
Oh what a perfect lifetime!
There is no other way that I
Would rather spend my days

<break>

She's a complicated mystery
Unraveling gradually in time
Languidly in her own fashion
Sharing all the passions of her mind

And if it takes a lifetime
To understand her ways
Oh what a perfect lifetime!
There is no other way that I
Would rather spend my days
W/o hearing the music (which I will do next) to me it has Country ballad stamped all over it---or Croce or Chapin, but mostly a good Country ballad.

The 'sorrow/tomorrows' near-rhyme has been done a lot, so making it an inner rhyme was wise.

Gonna listen now...

Wow---totally different musically than what I expected---and it works. And you DO have a Country crustiness in your voice---something to consider.

You might want to bring up the key some or at least bring your voice up in the mix. I'd go with a 3rd or so higher. The intonation on the low (and some high) notes might be more secure.

Nice work, good tune...

Thanks for checking it out Joel!

I can barely hit the high notes in this as it is, so bringing up the key isn't an option for me.
If I ever get someone else to sing it, then I can adjust to suit their voice.

'Can I ask are you standing up when singing this reason I ask is I don't hear movement'

What a strange question! There's nothing wrong with your vocal to my ears. You have a distinct style and it works particularly well on this song. I'm sitting down when I play the guitar on some of my most raucous songs. Is that forbidden?!!:laugh

Simplicity has left the building, so it shall remain a mystery as to why they asked the question.

Another very cool track, Owen! The lyrics are very interesting, and the groove is engaging. I agree with the comments of Sam and Chris. I enjoyed listening! Nice atmosphere! :-D

Cheers,
Joseph
