Brother Doyle (Similar Tune: Gone the Stone Is Rolled Away)

When Doyle Britton reached his pew on Sunday
We saw his pain each step along the way
When he sat down his suffering subsided
But minutes later he stood up to pray

Chorus:
He prayed; he didn’t just say words
He prayed; he really talked to Jesus
And we know his words were getting through
He prayed like a man determined
Prayed for the things that mattered
To the only Savior that he knew

Yes late in life he met the risen Savior
He struggled to believe but knelt to pray
Despite his doubts the Lord so truly changed him
And with his sins his doubts were washed away

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Chorus

Hey, MAS... This is good; I like it! You need a coda:

He coulda made his life a pray
If he prayed like this everyday

Charles

Thanks Charles. I want to finish with the chorus.
I've got an acapella recording of it on sound cloud but I'm not a very strong singer.

I'll post a link to it here and maybe you can see why I think it would be a stong finish. Just imagine yourself or another good singer doing it instead of me.

Turn your volume down low and cover one ear. I'm not a singer.

Hey, MAS... You don’t sound so bad. Give yourself credit. With some instrumentation it should come out great! But don’t make the recording while you’re on a road trip... Haha!

Glad you posted the link! Really good to hear how this is meant to sound.

The "He prayed" refrain really works well - that's the highlight of the song for me.

I also liked:
And with his sins his doubts were washed away

You might consider:
But minutes later > But moments later

Thanks. Got me thinking I might could use a one line or two line pre chorus.
