This is a perfect title for allowing the theme to be a moving target from yes to maybe to no. Keeps the listener guessing. CMA

You Know How It’s Gonna End

Verse 1:
Saw you at the county fair
Smelled your perfume in the air
Selling kisses for a pricey fee
Spit the straw from between my teeth
Threw all my money on the counter there
So there’s no one between you and me
Kisses became smiles, smiles turned to touch
Now we meet everyday for lunch

Pre-Chorus:
And we’re together ‘bout every night
Between us two there ain’t much light

Chorus 1:
We can’t pretend we’re just dating
Is your heart like mine, just aching
If we keep going on like this
We’re going far beyond a kiss
You know what I’m suggesting
Make it real, stop the guessing
Girlfriend, do you know how it’s gonna end
I think you know how it’s gonna end

Verse 2:
Tell you ‘bout my troubled past
You smile at me as you laugh
And say, “you’re about as bad as me
Just shut up or I’ll charge a fee!”
What’s she tryna hide, maybe she don’t care
Is there something between you and me
Those kisses and smiles, then smiles and touch
Don’t happen anyway that much

Pre-Chorus:
But we’re together on weekend nights
Between us two there shines some light

Chorus 2:
We don’t pretend we’re just dating
Is your heart like mine, just aching
So we keep going on like this
We’ve gone too far beyond a kiss
You know what I’m suggesting
It’s too real, no more guessing
Girlfriend, so you know how it’s gonna end
I think you know how it’s gonna end

Bridge:
Sometimes love’s more than we’re expecting
Letting in the light can be a blessing
Sometimes truth lead to us rejecting
What we know’s written in our hearts

Chorus 3:
We don’t pretend we’re still dating
Is your heart like mine, still aching
So we keep going on like this
We’ve gone too far, we seldom kiss
You know what I’m suggesting
It’s unreal, don’t need guessing
Girlfriend, so you know how it’s gonna end
I think you know how it’s gonna end

Post Chorus:
I think you know that it’s gonna end

This might be the most modern song you've written! There are so many current Country singers who coukd sing this one! Great job! :)

Hey, JD... I sure appreciate you keeping me up with what’s modern and not. I have a tendency to write in a more classic country style. And, yes, I try to make my lyrics easy to sing —thanks.

Nice! I like the story, and as you say, the hook invites you to guess how it's all going to end up.

Yea, RD Man... By titling it, ‘You Know How It’s Gonna End,’ as it turns out —you didn’t know how it would end! Kinda like the blues song, ‘Mean To Me,’ but mine shifts twice. Thanks for checking it out. Always appreciate your comments.

The first verse pulled me in. I could totally picture everything happening in the story.

This is my favorite part:
"Saw you at the county fair
Smelled your perfume in the air
Selling kisses for a pricey fee
Spit the straw from between my teeth
Threw all my money on the counter there"

I love the turn around at the end. Guess I should have been ready for that :( Nice write

Thanks, Andrea... I look forward to your reviews. I had this plan of doing a lyric with a title that seems straightforward but isn’t. Like a mystery movie, that when you think you understand it, it changes. Kinda fun. Thanks for the compliment.
