Well, folks, like the announcer in Monty Python's Flying Circus said, "Now For Something Completely Different!".

This is my first folk song. Wrote it yesterday. Couldn't find another place to post it, as there are no boards for Folk or Americana songs (or lyrics). Sorry If it went into the wrong section.

Title: Let It Flow (Folk Ballad)
Lyrics Copyright © 2019 Joe Givens

{Acoustic Guitar Intro}

{CHORUS 1}

Let it flow from your mind.. 6
Let it flow from your heart.. 6
Let it flow from ev'ry part of you. 9

Let the music unwind.. 6
And set itself apart 6
Then take on its own life fresh and new. 8

{V1}

Can you write a song.. that makes the angels sing? 11
Can you com-bine sweet words and melodies? 11
Will your music bring tears.. or will it bring great joy? 12
While it lives on for e-tern-ity? 9

Let each word you write come from deep in your heart 11
As I'm sure all good song-writ-ers know 9
Sharing how you feel.. sets the great apart 11
When your soul just lets the music flow 9

Yeah, if you wanna write a great song let it flow!

[WORK IN PROGRESS]

Let it flow from your dreams
Let it flow like a stream..
Let it flow from the core of your soul

Let your melody flow
And soon you will know
The greatness that never will grow old

{Outro}

{END}

Not bad Joe. You might consider starting with the chorus on this one in order to establish "let it flow" as the main theme. Right now it starts with songwriting and the "let it flow" phrase seems to be an extension of that. Then the change to preserving nature feels a bit arbitrary to me.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll give it a whirl. Already been advised to save the nature part for another song. Thanks

Joe, can’t say I know folk music but the message seems pretty clear and concise.
