Hallelujah Band
I just rejoined the forum after being gone for quite a while, thank you Owen for saving this precious corner of the interweb. When Mike Frisby passed some of us expressed our feelings in song (just the way Mike would have wanted it). I am inclined to be musical, but I'm not musically inclined so I created the melody and lyrics, and Danny Bloodworth provided the vocals, and mix, Arthur Holt did the music. I thought it fitting that this became my first post in the new forum. I look forward to interacting with you all in the future.
Mike was a solid dude, who was always willing to help people who needed it, If I know anything about songwriting, and I'm not saying I do, I learned it in this forum.

Hallelujah Band
Yesterday I got the news
I feared was coming and it made me blue
Another good one gone to young.
Started thinking bout the where's and whys
With no one looking took some time to cry
For all the songs he’d left unsung
I bet he’s singing praises to the Lord
And playing with the band
Using happy hallelujah chords
He was that kind of man
I know we’ll miss him here on earth
But we’ve got to understand
He's up there in that Hallelujah Band
Even though I never met the man
Never got to shake his hand
Never looked into his eyes to see
I could tell he had a heart of gold
Had that kind of kindred soul
That like a song could put you at ease
Yea he’s singing praises to the Lord
And playing with the band
Using happy hallelujah chords
He was that kind of man
I know we’ll miss him here on earth
But we’ve got to understand
He's up there in that Hallelujah Band
One day soon on that distant shore
I’m going to meet the man
Up where the streets are paved with gold
I’m going to shake his hand
See all of those who’ve gone before
According to the plan
They’ll all be there in that Hallelujah Band
They’ll be singing praises to the Lord
And playing with the band
Using happy hallelujah chords
And raising holy hands
I know we miss them here on earth
But we’ve got to understand
Their up there in that Hallelujah Band
Oh I’ll see you in that

Mike was a great guy, and this is a lovely tribute to him. There was such an outpouring of love for him when he passed.
Great to see you back here. Hope you'll be posting a new song soon!

@Barry First off, great to meet you and secondly I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS lyric; your story line is crystal clear and with a unique title/hook, and now for a listen. Like you, I could use co-writer's as well as my true love is the lyrics! But I see this is your melody. Sometimes I do better just recording the melody and leaving my crappy guitar playing out of it. Nice job putting together the music and vocalist.
Classy music and Bloodworth's not only got a great voice but I good heart for the song.
Very nice Barry,

Class! Absolutely classic CW, loved it well done, very polished and professional.
Thank you for sharing.

Renee, at the time Danny and Art were also active in the forum, so the vocals from Danny were honest as we all were hurting due to the loss of Mike. It's great to meet you too, I'm jealous of anyone who can play the guitar, at one time I had 4 of them thinking it was the guitar. I ended up giving all but one away once I faced the reality, I don't have the skills needed. (one hand doing something independent of the other) hahaha
Thank you for the comments, I look forward to seeing you around here!

Sid,
Great meeting you, I think Art used band in a box which is even outside my skill zone but the sentiment of the song made its way through I believe.
I hope to see you around here, thank you for the kind words.

How fitting that the Tribute to Mike would be a collaboration. I'm from Salem Oregon like Mike was, and (like you) I was on the forum a long time ago. Not long ago enough for me to have known him. Mike passed before I even knew he was here, or had this forum. I'd have loved to have met him. One of my favorite pieces of music from anywhere or any time was a collaboration between Mike and someone else called "Fargo."

I like to think Mike would have appreciated me recording the lyrics and melody acapella on my phone, posting it in the room, and two others jumping in to make it a song, he was all about the community coming together to help each other each with their own gifts. I think I remember Fargo, do you remember what the song was?
Nice meeting you, and thank you for the comments

"Fargo" was an instrumental that was performed with another collaborator. Harmonic and guitars mostly. Beautiful music. I used the instrumental melody to write a lyric called "ill wind" which I will someday write different music to.

Well, I've been on the forum a while but not long enough to have known Mike. So said, I know that he was very well respected and, like you, I'm very extremely grateful to Owen for keeping the forum going in the spirit that Mike would appreciate.
Between you, you've created a lovely tribute here. A great return to the forum. I look forward to hearing more from you.😀
