CALIFORNIA STOP
City shaking engine cruising down the double wide line
Riding so fast that she surely should be paying a fine
My baby's on the beach and now she's putting down the top
Everything's in motion until the California stop
California stop
(California stop)
California stop
(California stop)
Flying down the freeway past Ventura and into the night
Into the desert past all the bright city lights
The only lights I see are stars and a little circus cops
He said boy pull it on over that's a California stop (ba-da-ba, ba-da-ba, ba-da-ba)
California stop
(California stop)
California stop
(California stop)
And all I had
Is all I left behind
And all I wanted
Was a kind of state of mind
But all I got
Is what I could find
And all I had
Is this sweet sunshine (shine, shine, shine)
Sweet sunshine (shine, shine, shine)
Sweet sunshine (shine, shine, shine)

What do you mean by California stop?
FYI - A California stop, is a rolling stop, where you slow down enough to look like you've stopped but haven't. you're hoping that enough weight has transferred to the rear to make it look like you've stopped. I've actually been pulled over for that many times. rarely do I get a ticket. :) And the cops never say, I'm pulling you over for a California stop, they always say, you made a rolling stop or not a complete stop. What's funny is when two or more people hit the intersection at the same time doing a rolling stop, because only 1 can go, so the other's end up hitting the brakes, or time is so that the person there first, goes and you still don't have to hit the brakes
Besides, you are mixing two different ideologies, first you say - Everything's in motion until the California stop, then you say -
He said boy pull it on over that's a California stop (ba-da-ba, ba-da-ba, ba-da-ba). How can something be in motion under, then get pulled over for the same act?
Besides, how do you perform a rolling stop at 75 mph (120/k) on a desert highway that has no stops, only off ramps?
What is a "circus cop"? We call them chips, cops or highway patrol. Please let me be there when you call them a circus cop,
Also, if you are flying down Ventura in either direction, you are not hitting the desert, you are either hitting Southern Cal, or Central Cal. into northern cal. Ventura isn't even close to any desert.
Cruising is a SoCal term where you're driving slow up and down the street, either showing off your car, or scamming for chicks. That you can get a ticket for, and a lot of cities have cracked down and put up signs saying, "No cruising". If you are cruising, you are not speeding. of all the times I've been pulled over for speeding, never has the ticket said - cruising above the post speed limit, that would have been great if my ticket for excess speeds for 20 miles on 1, 2 and 3 lanes of the northbound 405 freeway, would have said, cruising at 90 mph above the 65 mph posted speed limit, sadly it said excessive speeding :)
What do you mean by double wide line? all that means is that you can't cross over them,
In the outro you're making it sound like sunshine is a bad thing, like you gave up paradise and ended up with this is stupid, but sweet sunshine. Trust, me I'll take sunshine over rain, sleet, hail or snow any day of the week. even when it's 110 (43), rarely do I curse the sun. and what state of mind did you leave behind in exchange for this horrible, sweet sunshine?
That is surf music, and this is a song about california, so that was a good choice.

Ahh I love that state, my home state. I'm headed out to the Sierras tomorrow to fly down a white mountain side or two. Great concept hot lil tune man.

Pretty clever on a guy looking at a girl and call it Calif stop , if thats what your trying to say

1) He was pulled over after the rolling stop
2) Ventura - yes, the geography is questionable, but have you ever mapped out Brian Wilson's Desert Drive or Dead Man's Curve? Ventura fit the syllables... and "flying down the freeway past Barstow and into the night" doesnt have the same ring to it
3) He was insulting the cop, likely not to his face, just commenting, great, getting pulled over on a desert highway with no traffic by a mall cop with nothing better to do
4) In outro I think he means he gave it all up to come to California, and the real world still exists (getting pulled over) - the sunshine gives the illusion of freedom.
I'm from Kansas, one of my favorite memories as a teen is visiting California and coming down hwy 1 into Ventura on a bright sunny morning with the ocean on the right... America was right about that Ventura Highway...

dead man's curve is not in the desert, it's in hills of santa monica, I've been on that road.
Ventura is nowhere near Barstow, they are 165 miles apart.
Everything in Brian wilson's song is factually correct. And that song is about driving to vegas, that's one way to get there. He doesn't bring in beach cities because it's cool.
There are no mall cops patrolling the roads in the desert. those are CHIPs, California highway patrol. A mall cop doesn't have the authority to pull anybody over.
if caifornia stop means rolling stop, then why do you keep repeating calfornia stop? say californa sun or california fun, that would make more sense than rolling stop, repeated
The outro maybe what you mean, but that's not how it flows.

Where do you stand on Van Dyke Parks lyrics?0

Yes, he wrote intentionally abstract and surrealistic, he's brilliant

You've got the Beach Boys style down pat out of Suno.
I had no idea what a California Stop was. Live and learn. Not suggesting you shouldn't use it, only to expect ignorance from those like me!
Is it called a "double wide" line there? I'd call it a "double white" line here in Aus, but again likely ignorance on my part.
Could be little things like that distracting me, but this one didn't connect with me. I didn't really get anything from it. But I expect you could say the same of some Beach Boys hits!! Everyone reacts differently.

I didn't know what a California Stop was either. I don't know that we have an equivalent over here in the UK. No matter - it's a good surf song - not really my genre if I'm honest so I can't say too much. It might benefit from a slightly more raw arrangement to my ears, but I'm not well up on this style. It's very catchy and has a good chorus. Yeah, I enjoyed that.
