Starry-Eyed
Something of a bit of Folk-lore with being careful what we wish for.
Thanks for listening... I'll post the original that was recorded by me, some 13 years ago.
Tell me what you think. Thanks again!

“Starry-Eyed”
By Tom Tognaci
She trampled on the moon
As her tears fell in its light
With eyes shadowed in gloom
Oh, how she loathed its lonely sight
But, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..
She knew nothing about love
She was just a lonely girl
Who asked that moon above
To help her find love in this world
Yes, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..
No, he never came……
Well, that moon came tumbling down
And proposed upon its knees
But, the star she thought she found
Turned out to be merely cheese
But, how many nights did she plead to that ole moon
She lifted her prayers for that gentle face to find her soon
But, he never came…..
No, he never came……
No, he never came……

I like the original much, much better. love the guitars. reminds me of jim croche i've got a name, only with a bit faster tempo. Actually have the melody stuck in my head...

You have Jim Croce's song stuck in your head?
well, thanks for saying, but I would never buy my recording online. But the Suno cove, I would.
Thanks for listening.

no , your song. what I don't like about the suno cover (remix or remaster)., is that vocals stay in the upper range and nasaly. You modulate your vocals to give them life.

I love the song. The original works fine for me. But I'm struggling to elaborate because I can see you feel that Suno takes this to a better level. I honestly don't think that it does in this case. But that's just me. Please don't let me put you off. You know I'm a big fan of your songs.😀

Thanks Chris... You know I'm sensitive. I've said this time and time again: " So often, I can only guess with what people hear when they are listening"
Never did I think my solo performances were good. Had I grown up in a band, it might have turned out different. Had I known you as a teen... we might have built a mountain, one rock at a time.

I like the song, but I don't like the title. The lyric is all about the Moon. Why not call it Moonstruck or something like that instead?
And these lines don't work
But, the star she thought she found
Turned out to be merely cheese
The moon is said to be made of cheese, not stars. Maybe "light", or "heavenly body" instead? Or change the next line "faded with the morning breeze"?
But the rest is very cool indeed.

Hi Rainy and thanks for listening.
Well, here we see how she pleads to the moon. She knows nothing about love, and so, when that moon finally comes down, she realizes that the moon wasn't what she expected. She wanted a star (hence, starry-eyed)... but what does she know, she's young. Doesn't everyone want a star? And so, while the moon did come, the star wasn't what she found.
"Moonstruck" is a title more than well worn
"Starry-Eyed": naively enthusiastic or idealistic: "starry-eyed romantics" Seems to work, doesn't it??

I loved the original. There is something special about simple acoustic songs in my mind. I know Suno took it to a "different level" in this song, but I didn't think it took it to a "better level." Both versions were exceptional. Both were very listeneable. I'd hate to bet my life on the difference between the two. I know the Suno version had a certain sopistication and polish to it. . . but I keep coming back to the wonderful simplicity of the original.

Yeah... I just can't help myself. I just love to rip off other artists.

Thanks, HT 😎
My recording isn't bad... I would say it's a good work tape. Had I been raised in a studio, who knows. Maybe we could all say that, too.
Thanks again for stopping by.

Tom, the beginning chords on the original version reminds me of "Dust in the Wind." (Classic).
I know you are tired of hearing your own voice, but personally, I feel the original version captures the emotion better than Suno’s version. I found that speeding it up in Suno’s version (vocals/melody) made some of the emotion a bit harder to feel. The original version was more suited to the lyrics. (IMHO)
As for the title since it's a heartfelt song, maybe, "The Wrong Star" or "Star Struck" (a little more cliche, thou).
Overall, I would buy the original version because I connected with it. :-)
I can't wait to hear more of your work. Keep them coming!

Thanks Tamm... I appreciate your listening and commenting.
I do like my title. For me, it nails it perfectly. It's a tale for being careful with what you wish for.
There are many good options, as you have pointed out. But I like "Starry-Eyed". In the end, it is just a title... and it does encapsulate by intent.
