The Rise
Woke up one morning a while back to a fantastic painted sunrise out my back door. Grabbed my phone and got it on video. Very quickly the song began to unfold.
But then it got a lil obsessive. I’d get up way early in the morning to drive to an east facing outer beach to catch it coming up over the ocean’s horizon. And in several other locations. If you’re watching this on a computer put it on full screen, some of the video is really beautiful.
Full discloser, some of the videos I found on line.
And as I wrote the song and watched the rises, a flute kept playing in my head...

Sitting here watching the changing night
Beginning of the end is right on time
Capturing my hungry eyes
Springing from darkness to the burst of the day
You and I got find new ways
Day in and out and change with the times
Get up on our feet and get on the rise
I know the truth will be waiting in the morning
And the sun will burn away the lies
I know when I open my eyes
I’ll see the glory and harmonize
It’s comin round again the change never dies
Another chance to quit wasting my time
And get up on my feet and into the rise
Break / Bridge
In the moments just before dawn
Watching for a sliver on the horizon
Don’t want to blink and miss the surprise.
Get up on your feet here come the rise
Waiting for the angels of light
To be streaming down from the sky
And burn away the dark cold night
And remind me to keep the future in sight
And not waste my footsteps running blind
The further I go the more I realize
Got to get up on my feet greet the sunrise
Break
Rise rise all rise
get on your feet get up on the rise
Scat outro
Ba da da da dum dee da da up on the rise
rise

Wow. Splendid music - I get a little Jefferson Airplane here too - Steely Dan meets Jefferson Airplane?
I love the lyrics and how you incorporate "the rise" into them

Steely Dan already got a mention. That also was my first reaction when I first heard this. That's not a criticism - I love it. This is a lovely arrangement and there's some great vocals. Nothing not to like here. A great song.😀

Wow! Doesn't a full accompaniment make a difference? Love the flute in the intro, but all the instruments add to it.
The music is quite laid back, atmospheric. Feels like looking at a landscape, which makes it a great match for your lyric!
Congratulations! Lovely work.
