Moon Tide

Inspired by a late night moonlit walk on a remote Cape Cod beach:

https://youtu.be/9MC3pmc2EwM?si=wQipE0UJ1TSagPkx

Drawn by the moon

Pulled by the light

A spirit on the beach

Washed in on the tide

Let’s hurry down the waves are waiting

To wash our footprints away

Walk with you on the shore

They’ll break forever more

Hurry now the moment waits

To soon be swept away

Love plays a windy chord

One that can’t be ignored

Spirit in the seasons sign

Spirit on the waves

Spirit in a wet embrace

Swimming in the warm moon tide

Hurry now the moon tide waits

To bring us close together

Now that our hearts align

Pulled by the bright moon shine

Underneath heaven’s bridge

I’ll race you to the shore

Dive into the night

Drift on the full moon tide

Break

Drawn by the moon

Pulled to the light

A spirit on the beach

Washed in on the tide

Spirit in the seasons sign

Spirit on the waves

Spirit in a wet embrace

Swimming in the warm moon tide

  • this is really cool. has that 60's vibe to me. the lead guitar is what makes the song.

I think this is a very impressive song. Very listenable and it's a great lyric.

  • Almost lost me on the intro but then it kicks in and carries you with it. Cudos

Liked the guitar work, Liked the lyrics as well. Good Job.

  • Love the lead on the intro.

Great rhythm as you get into the verses.

I think this one is more about mood than story, and nothing wrong with that! Does it well.

    And a great outro too!

  • @bhengen glad you enjoyed it Bill and thank you for becoming a subscriber to my channel.

Hey thanks ya’ll for giving it a listen.  This is one my personal favorites...takes me back to that night on the beach with my GF. As Bill mentioned, I was trying to achieve a retro 60’s Surf sound with this song.  As you may know the Surf genre came out of the California beach scene from back then.  It’s an instrumental only genre with reverb drenched guitars and whamy bars.  The guy that produced this is a freakin multi instrumental genius and when I said “spooky cool Surf guitar sound”, he knew exactly what I was talking about.

Here's an example of surf music, these guys had the Moon Tide name first but of course my song is completely different, ....thanks again:

Yep. I got the 60s surf vibe right away, thought admittedly a heavier version. Maybe surf rock meets 70s rock? Either way it was super catchy. I think RDM may have a point that it’s more about the mood / vibe than the words, but I really liked the lyrics too. I mean, I’m never gonna say no to a song about moonlit walks. Plus, those photos in the video are stunning. I’ve always been fascinated by the moon. But yeah, that groove was awesome. Like others said, the guitar playing set the tone for the whole song. Just top notch all the way around

The imagery in the lyrics is stand-out. It's poetic, yet it's so real.

I mean hell "listen" to this:

    Spirit in the seasons sign

    Spirit on the waves

    Spirit in a wet embrace

Swimming in the warm moon tide

I can feel in the lyrics the embrace in all it's wetness as that bright moon shines down on the water. Yeah!

So a definite home run lyrically.

Musically, the verses work. Your style comes through and it works.

But... the chorus melody lacks a zest that the lyrics convey. Musically, the chorus feels like a continuation of the verse melody in many ways. I'm not saying this to be harsh or critical. But I'm not "feeling it" musically during the choruses. Maybe give that another go?

But getting back to the lyrics, they are spectacular. No smoke. Spectacular.
