Old Dead Tree

Sumpin bout old dead trees always fascinated me....

Humans and trees share significant genetic similarities despite their apparent differences.

These genetic similarities highlight the fundamental unity of life on Earth.

Crazy as it seems humans share about 60% of their DNA with bananas.

All life on Earth, including humans and trees, is related and shares a common ancestor.

I wana feel the earth in my feet

Sand in my toes in a cold water creek

High on the sun that’s what I want to be

Way up in the air is what I want to see

And when the storm comes around

I’m gona stand in my ground

Like an old dead tree

Until the wind blows me down

I wana look out on the valley floor

On a mountain side growin taller

With the sunlight in my hands

Clinging to the rocky sand

And if the rains don’t fall

I’m gona stand my ground

Like an old dead tree

Until a land slide takes me down

Ah take me down

Break

I wana grow by a lazy river

Sweet flowing life giver

Watch it color in the falling leaves

Watch it stop in the winter freeze

And when melt comes around

I’m gona stand my ground

Like an old dead tree

Until I’m washed away to the sea

Ahhh wash me down wash me down down down

To the sea

High on a bluff above the sea

Holden my ground proud and free

Let the birds rest in me

Until my time comes around

And I’m given back to the ground

Woh given back given back to the ground

  • @StoneFlowers - This sounds good, but it seems the vocals get ahead of the beat sometimes, but that could be me. to me, it sounds like a sped of version of the wind cries mary.. the solo at the end was a nice touch. capped off the song well.

They are a bit romantic old trees . now let me listen . Good tone on guitar , rocks along quiet nicely , lines swing , Good job amigo.

  • Indeed! But you have to go back a long way to find that common ancestor!

I like the variations in the chorus.

I think the rhythm really carries it along

    Yes ,nice outro there too.

    Good stuff.

Hi, I'm also a lover of trees and plants. I get along very well with them and enjoy watching how they react to my affection. The ones who have traveled with me through my various house moves are now old friends, so I've enjoyed your lyrics and your song.

    How beautiful!! @StoneFlowers

I love that simple "one guy and a guitar." It's so cool that you are expanding the repertoire to include more musicians, more complex arrangements, and more instruments, but it's my opinion that you always want to leave this element as part of your identity and playlist.

Thanks man, I have to agree just a guitar and me is kinda simple and sweet. But I'm getting swayed by what a full band sound does for my songs. I'll prolly continue down both roads.
