She was a rainbow

She was a Rainbow
VERSE
Could have been November, might have been December
I met her years ago.
It’s hard to remember but it was cold weather
So, I loaned her my coat.
Verse
We shared a smile, spent a while in a coffee shop.
A shelter from the wind.
Two hours passed, time flew fast, we laughed start to stop.
Thought we’d be more than friends.
Pre-Chorus
The wind starts to blow and before you know
All your heart can feel is pain.
The weather changes moods like a woman.
The sun's shining, then there’s rain.
Chorus
She was a rainbow, she was a rainbow.
Love faded away.
Verse
I got her number and I wondered, is this love?
Could it be her and me?
But women like the weather, they do as they please.
Now she’s a memory.
Verse
The sun rises, the sun sets but I can’t forget;
Praying that she would stay.
I saw goodbye, in her blue eyes, knew she was gone.
The clouds rolled in, it rained.
Pre - Chorus
The wind starts to blow and before you know
All your heart can feel is pain.
The weather changes moods like a woman.
The sun's shining, then there’s rain.
Chorus
She was a rainbow,she was a rainbow.
Love faded away.
She was a rainbow, she was a rainbow.
Love faded away.
bridge
I kissed her, I loved her
I gave her my heart
I loved her, I lost her,
She left with my heart.

So many nice images in this song. Love the use of the in-line rhymes, good touch.

    Well done.

  • Nice use of internal rhymes on this one!

Verse 1 sets a scene nicely, but also introduces the weather, I like how that works.

You might want to draw out the rainbow metaphor a little more. Perhaps instead of the repeat on "She was a rainbow" you could put "beautiful, ephemeral" which could lead into the "Love faded away", or even insert it to get:

She was a rainbow, she was a rainbow
    Beautiful, ephemeral
    She was a rainbow
    Love faded away.
