We don’t have to die

We don’t have to die
verse
In the moonlight I caught sight of a shadow.
Sitting on the rail of the bridge.
contemplating doing what I’d come to do.
We were out of reasons to live.
pre chorus
She looked at me and she knew.
Her eyes gazed into mine.
Her voice quivered as she asked;
Why do you want to die?
chorus
I need you, you need me.
Come sit by my side.
Talk to me, be my friend.
We don’t have to die.
verse
We sat talking as if we had a future.
not knowing we already did.
fortunately neither of us took the leap.
We both found reasons to live.
pre chorus
She looked at me and I knew
I didn’t want to die.
Her voice faltered as she asked
What made you change your mind?
chorus
Was it me, was it me.
Come sit by my side.
talk to me, be my friend.
we don’t have to die.
bridge
Be my reason for living.
together we will survive.
Together we will survive.

Nice one Caroll, unique situation, two potential suicides dissuading each other to go through with it

Case of "live at first sight".

  • Intense!

As a suggestion, you might re-order the chorus:

I need you, you need me.

Talk to me, be my friend.

    Come sit by my side.

    We don’t have to die.

I think it's just having the too short lines together that makes it feel better to me. But it will depend on how you hear it in your head.

  • Thanks i’ll have to figure out how to edit posts
  • Sadly, I don't think the forum software allows you to edit previous posts/comments. You'll have to post a new version of the lyric as a reply when you want to do that.
