[verse 1]
The thimbles, are old an' broke,
we sew, lit by tallow candles.
One eye on our work,
the other, on the door handle.
[verse 2]
Guards, are posted outside,
armed, with German pistols.
Whisperin' in the darkness
the hairs on our necks, bristled.
[chorus]
A Tsar is Born in Russia,
the son of royal birth.
sat on a golden throne,
thrown in a hole in the earth.
[verse 3]
Sewin' diamonds, in the linin',
our dresses, worth a fortune.
To avoid, the guards suspicion,
mother, sang us a tune.
[chorus]
A Tsar is Born in Russia,
the son of royal birth.
sat on a golden throne,
thrown in a hole in the earth.
[verse 4]
Tsar Nicholas, sat on a stool,
his eyes starin', at the ceiling.
The tears, fell on his uniform,
he showed, no other feeling.
[chorus]
A Tsar is Born in Russia,
the son of royal birth.
sat on a golden throne,
thrown in a hole in the earth.
[bridge]
There's shoutin' outside the door,
we huddle tightly on the floor
A blinding flash, shouts,
A pain, an' all the lights go out.
[final chorus]
A Tsar is Born in Russia,
the son of royal birth.
sat on a golden throne,
thrown in a hole in the earth.
[outro]
Where the bodies were buried,
a deep hole, in an old Russian forest.
Sixty years, the Romanov's lay,
Till truth, saw the light of day.

Very moody and evocative. One to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
The music link worked for me by the way.
The last 2 lines felt just a touch crowded, but you could certainly get away with them.

Sorry Bill, the music streamer Audius is moody sometimes, above links to SoundCloud, try that.

I left out the worst details,
Last 2 lines, agreed,
Sixty years, the Romanov's lay,
Till truth, saw the light of day.
Appreciate comments.
