Inspired by @bhengen comment yesterday about every day wanting to climb into a pic

[verse 1]

The lady on my arm, is turnin' heads,

men pretend that, they're not starin'.

Lookin' out, the corner of their eyes,

women act, like they ain't carin'.

[verse 2]

The chemistry's there, together,

like we can read, each other's mind.

It's somethin' special, holdin' her,

peas in a pod, two of a kind.

[chorus]

The lady on my arm, that's my wife,

the lady on my arm, she's my life.

With me, I want the world to see,

that passion between, her an' me.

[verse 3]

Our eyes lock, there's no words,

everythin's said, an' understood.

Your smile says all, I need to know,

I'd explain it to you, if I could.

[chorus]

The lady on my arm, that's my wife,

the lady on my arm, she's my life.

With me, I want the world to see,

that passion between, her an' me.

[verse 4]

It was more, than love at first sight,

what it was, went deeper than that.

Partners of the soul, all our lives,

it was primeval, somethin' like that.

[chorus]

The lady on my arm, that's my wife,

the lady on my arm, she's my life.

With me, I want the world to see,

the passion between, her an' me.

[bridge]

People have said, they can see our love,

everythin' we do, and what we say.

They feel, a certain somethin' there,

a force, surroundin' us, some way.

[final chorus]

The lady on my arm, that's my wife,

the lady on my arm, she's my life.

With me, I want the world to see,

the passion between, her an' me.

[outro]

There's no point to say I love you,

you know it, in your heart.

If I reach out, I can touch you,

we're never, that far apart.

never, that far apart.

  • Beautiful lyrics Sid, makes sad and happy at the same times
  • Got a lovely feel over all.

In your chorus, I feel like the last two lines shift the focus away from her/them to an almost "look what I've got" vibe, which doesn't feel quite right to me.

Borrowing from some of your other lines, I'd try for something more like:

The lady on my arm, that's my wife,

the lady on my arm, she's my life.

Between her and me, there's chemistry

    It's understood, without a word

    May she always be:

    The lady on my arm

Thanks RDM, not 100% in agreement on this, not convinced entirely on the vibe.

If I did, I definitely wouldn't go with "May she always be:", still got auld lang syne stuck in your head?

the chemistry lines o.k. so combining everything, I'd be tempted to go with

"What you see, between her an' me,

    is love's eternal chemistry."

I'd be happier with that and keep the snappier chorus.

    Always helpful and appreciated.

    @bhengen Cheers Bill,

Tryin' to connect with those basic elements of attraction and love.

Your words inspired me, me and many others too I'm sure.

  • @sidshovel I really love this lyric as it puts your lady high up on the pedestal. The only line that struck me funny is in the outro: "There's no point to say I love you,"; it kind of was a let down after all the love and admiration you showed for her in the entire lyric.

I believe saying, "I love you" to your partner, at least once in a while reinforces your love for one another and it's a lovely thing for a woman to hear; women long to hear it, even. Now, for that magical listen! Very sincere vocal works well. Lovely song, Sid. Nice groove, too.

I wonder if you said something like: Tho' I say, 'I love you'.....OR When I say, 'I love you'.

    I hope I've been helpful,

    Renee

Very nice Sid, I do hope this is autobiographical. There is nothing like a love like that.

@HummerWisdom Thanks Renee. it's a theme I've come back to many times, the notion that love is felt with no need for words. A look, a smile, a touch, what those actions are understood to mean.

    @Barry

The inspiration came from Bill's comment on missing his late wife, but I agree with your sentiment.

  • Good song and lyrics as is usual for you!
