Never gone

Words by me / Vocals - Music AI.
As much as some of bag on AI as being the devil incarnate, at least It give me freedom of expressions.. I'm not bound and chained to one tired genre. and I don't have to spend thousands of dollars on session players. so $10/mo to me gives me allows me to be creative.

I'm not happy with the outro, seems forced, to literal. can't seem to get my mindset right for this one.
it doesn't have the cadence I have in my mind.
What I envisioned for the outro a misty valley with ghostly soul leaving a train suspended, joining a group of other lost souls. But can’t seem to capture that in words without being too cliche or contrived
[Verse 1]
Misty eyes as the pine box descends
Final six feet into the cold ground
A single red rose laid, sayin' goodbye
Gettin on the train headin’ southbound
[Chorus]
Never gone are memories of past
Held close to heart always last
Never gone are memories of time
three and seven distant bells chime
[Verse 2]
The train of ethereal time moves forward
In my conscious mind memories are meld
And follows the tracks of events of bygone
Of the final breath locked in mind held
[Chorus]
Never gone are memories of past
Held close to heart always last
Never gone are memories of time
three and seven distant bells chime
[Verse 3]
This southbound train keeps rollin on
Yea, through the misty shadowed valley
Passing by stagnated circle of lost souls
Watching the tally man counting his tally
[Bridge]
The train's window are reflections of moments
In time, there you stand, a single red rose
As the solemn priest slowly reads my last rites
You toss the rose before the coffin lid closes
[Outro]
The southbound train reaches the final
Destination and disappears into the valley
I disembark and walk amongst the soulless
As the tally man adds on more to the tally

AI is not the devil , it's just robots and new technology . Yes session players make a living by doing tracks and are essential on being the artist . if AI is the devil so was the Model T by Henry Ford , it's just the future. Will session players be replaced ? They might .
If your not concerned with that AI is fine
Cool song man , like always the genius of AI does a good job

@ElvisNash - There are a couple of people who said that, just throw it up to AI, as if that was a bad thing. Another comment about spending $10 to get strings, rather than have AI do it.. Yes, it's unfortunate that Session players are affected. I know the feeling.. I'm a computer programmer and a lot of my work is gone to AI, I just need to adapt. Thanks for the comment on the song, In this instance, not happy with how it sounds in AI.. the phrasing is off, especially in the outro, I've tried 3 different types of genres and it sounds weird. If you listen close enough, some of the words are being rushed.

I was mad 7 months ago when AI showed up and cried like a 5 year old , I'm over it , adjust or get of the game . I think you got run that 30 times thru AI to get what ya want . I know if I'm stealing a melody off AI that's what's I've done . In my case AI is a tool , I've gotten over the whole AI surprise , it's only going to get better . Country music is the 1 4 and 5 , its not rocket science

@ElvisNash - it's about finding the right phrases for the prompt to get the output you want. since my lyrics sometimes doesn't follow the typical song structure, Suno is more problematic when it comes to experimental or prog rock genres

Their stuctures are odd , yup. Will all be replaced by robots one day I guess

Thoughts Bill,
The southbound train has reached the final
Destination and fades into the valley
I disembark and walk amongst the soulless
As the spectre adds one more to his tally
From day one of using Ai, I have accepted that it has some major faults. I have always called it, and used it as a tool, even when I was derided for doing so. It is not the tool for the perfectionist, it has too many problems you can't control. I view it no more than a coat hanger to carry my lyrics. Totally accept the best of a bad lot and select that one. Can other people do better or hear the lyrics in a different genre, absolutely, and I encourage that.
My advice, don't get hung up on the coat hanger, accept the faults, an' move on to the next.

@sidshovel - your right.. I do tend to get hung up in the bs.. my sister knew when my OCD was kicking in.. she stopped commenting :).. there is a misspelling that I didn't catch.. i meant to type one, not on :).. but I like Fades, specter (us version) or spectre.. could be better.. I thought tally man would sound catchier.. specter may give it a more haunting tone, thanks for the suggestion

Forgot to mention that I loved the song, you're slowly draggin' me into this genre Bill.
Special mention to the "southbound train", if ever a great title to another song!

I don't think the train should reach its destination. It should approach, and maybe our protagonist should disembark but the final steps should be ambiguous (as death is).
Also, I didn't feel a clear message in the chorus. I don't understand its purpose in the song. The 'three and seven distant bells" might be symbology that I'm unaware of, but it seemed kind of random. Perhaps a "memories are all we are" summary line might be helpful, if that's the message.

@bhengen Hi Bill, if memory serves and it might not, but is this a song reflecting on the loss of your sister as one of your other train station songs did? Forgive me if I got that wrong.
Anyway, the three and seven bells line hit me kind of funny so I looked it up and "seven bells all is well" came up on the internet as in ship's bells. While the line didn't bother me, it was a distraction. So I have to ask what exactly your meaning behind the line is. ?? Considering your high level of education, I'm sure you'll have an eloquent answer. Or, was it something you heard; church bells perhaps chiming that way?
The "tally man" made me chuckle which is always a good thing! Now, for that listen! And Verse 3, I think it might be true "stagnated lost souls" as not everyone gets to go to Heaven! Crazy music makin' my head spin! 😍

@RainyDayMan the concept of train not reaching is interesting.. @HummerWisdom - Ok. the 3 and 7 bells means a couple of different things.first it's 37 years, that's how long my late wife and I were married. no, this is not about my sister, but my wife. the 3 also represents harmony, balance and completeness. the 7 in numerology represents introspection. Added together the cycle is complete. I was going to change it, but then decided to keep it and let the reader decide what it means to them, if anything. tally man was borrowed from the song Day-O, by harry belanfonteI aways like that line :)

@bhengen thank you for taking the time to detail 3 and 7 bells. Yes, I'm familiar with numerology and the various representations such as 8 meaning completeness and so forth. How cool for you to put together your own 3 and 7 meaning! And sorry, for getting that wrong about your sister versus your late wife. Hard to keep up in my old(er) age. And I like that you borrowed "tally man" from someone else. I do it myself whether it be from another song or not.
Keep 'em coming, Mister Prolific!
